I need to disconnect the side curtain airbags on my 2002 Q45. I don't need to completely remove them, but I do need to get in and disconnect them do to having something wrapped around the b-pillar. I found a diagram on where the disconnect for the airbags is located, but it does not specify which wire of connection to disconnect.

I would not really reccomend this at all. The side curtain airbags are there for a reason. If you do disconnect them, there is a chance of none of the airbags working.

I do realize that, but the thing is that this is for an experiment, and it needs to be done. Under any other circumstance I wouldn't want to do this, but there is not really any choice. I just need to know which connection to disconnect to stop the B-pillar airbags from deploying. -Thanks

+2

Can't imagine what would be worth it. Disabling safety equipment while using on public roads is not an experiment, it is negligence should that vehicle become involved in an accident.

The issue is that there are restraints for equipment that wrap around the b-pillar. Should an accident happen and the airbags go off, the trim around the b-pillar would not be able to release properly, and I am not looking to send plastic into someones head. Be straight with me, if you don't feel the you can help, say so. However, I do need to make this happen. Thank you.

I think your best bet is to download the FSM at http://www.phatg20.net - then google for the freeware to decompress the .rar file. The answer will be there somewhere. Probably not step x step instructions, but a wiring diagram or something that will help you figure it out.

Please tell us more about these experiments and equipment, if you can.
