Grrrr...

I don't know where to turn to anymore. My idle is udder and complete crap. It just goes up and down, up and down, surrounding 700rpm; all while studdering, popping and stumbling. It seems like I have a miss or an air leak but I can't find anything. I have a cone filter and I know it's not leaking from there since I sealed the crap out of it around the MAF adapter plate.

My injector connectors are toast. When I touch them at idle, the car studders even more and almost dies. I will replace them over the weekend. Other than that... I have no idea what could be wrong. I'm getting really sick of this problem.

Anyone have any suggestions?

After injector connectors, I plan on replacing the plug wires. Everything else on the engine has been replaced (some with junkyard parts: TPS + IACV) or removed or cleaned... except for the MAF.

O2 sensor? Also look at the cable attatched to the O2 sensor and make sure it hasn't been damaged.

find the large diameter hose on the passenger side of the intake manifold. your pcv hose, take it off and plug it with a screw. Your idle will clean itself up. Mine did.

Just changed the connectors... and still f-d up...

I'm getting spark on all wires from the cap...

Made sure my grounds were ok...

My plugs are like 6 months old... maybe I'll take a look at them and perhaps put on a new MAF or new plug wires....

This is getting old...

Check your MAF. It might be the MAF that is making the problems. Does it stall at all? Unplug the MAF and see what it does. You might need to clean the MAF out.

ok so I tried the brand new MAF on and no difference... I guess this is somewhat of a good thing cause it costs $90...

I was checking my spark plug wires and #2 came apart on the plug, so I went to get new Bosch plug wires. It's a little better but still no cake...

Anyone else have any ideas?

Just take it to a mechanic to run a diagnostics for god's sake.$60 for it. Well worth it.

Distributor cap and rotor newer?- check them, also check your timing. If you sealed your mafs adapter make sure none got in the mafs. check compression. bosch plugs are the worst- invest in Denso Iridium- or any iridium. Had a similar prob on a 97, distributor was the cause.

I'll probably end up taking it to a mechanics...

cap and rotor are recent

I just bought spark plugs (denso), Z32 fuel filter, fuel pump strainer, and fuel injector cleaner...

I just changed my plugs and fuel filter... seems to be running much better so far...

no more stumbling right around 1100rpm and smooth idle...

I tried to change the fuel pump strainer... but no luck... it was dark and I gave up. Anyone know how to take it off?
