There are alarm swithches inside door, trunk, and ignition lock assemblies and hood position............destroying any of these alarm switches will create alarms replace all switches tampered.

The FSM fully explains this.

In my current car a '95 Acura Legend with OEM alarm is possible to disable the alarm by disconnecting the the two wires going to the hood latch(comes in a pair into a slip on connector) and shoving a bent double paper clip into the female, disconnected end.

I am offering this advice with a disclaimer of course but from reading these boards I find that my car and the Infinity have much in common, electronically speaking, although I haven't seen my alarm disabling method mentioned. However I'm pretty sure that the experts, on the Q45, will chime in if I'm full of it...

My car alarm goes of, randomly, but infrequently, caused by, more than likely, a faulty driver side door lock actuator, a known weakness.

Hope this helps. Jack

Just the pass window was smashed and then the door unlocked and opened normally...I inspected the switches already and all are intact. I'm in the process of swapping out the many security relays so we'll see.

Mine went off one day when it locked itself and I reached through the open window to unlock it. It stopped when I put the key in the ignition, though.

Exercise all the sensors - trunk, door, ignition and hood. Put the key in each lock and open and close the hood. That'll rule that out in a couple minutes.

maybe theres a diference between the 90-93 n 94-96 alarm setup. it was when i first got the Q and didnt even know it had an alarm. i reached in the window to unlock/open the door, and to my surprize, an alarm. well being 17 and not much exp. with imp. cars i was kinda stunned. busy street, people looking ect... any way put the key in the ignition and tried to start, but nothing. got out closed the door and locked then unlocked with the key, and it went off. its to my knowledge that there is an ignition disabler, but thats not the case with your car,96owner? huh...

Damn, ya know, I can't say for certain. I thought it was the ignition. I'm pretty sure I got in the car and put the key in and it stopped. I don't remember having to get back out and put it in the door. Dunno.

Tried the key unlock method in every door with no success. swapped every relay with no success. inspected every sensor and they seemed fine. left the battery off for 2 days and when i hooked it back up....voila! no alarm. i assume the battery wasn't all the way dead when the break in occured and that the 2 days reset the system somehow. thanks for the advice...albeit sometimes condescending (see: q45 tech)......

I know what you mean.

My friend had a similar problem with his J30. The moment he touched a jumper cable to his battery, the alarm went off. He gave up and sold it.
