BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Former President Jimmy Carter said on Friday the "atrocious economic policies" of the Bush administration had caused the worst global financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

http://www.reuters.com/article...=true

GWB is at fault for wasteful federal spending, but the ex-President who gave us double-digit unemployment, "stagflation", double-digit inflation, and double-digit interest rates believes he has the right to opine on economics. I find that amusing.

Someone give this clown a pair of overalls and send him back to the peanut farm.

Getting economic advice from Jimmy Carter would be like taking parenting classes from a pedoph:le. This is how America thought he did during his go round as prez. It might be hard to see, he got the blue states.

Obama sure sounds like Carter V2, if he wins we are in for a hell of a ride and he will manage to muddle through one term before the lemmings realize what a horrible mistake they made.

Jimmy Carter is a great man who somehow managed to be a below-average President.

He has been MUCH more meaningful and influential as an ex-President than he ever was as President, IMO.

Jimmy Carter feels he has the right to say whatever he wants nowadays because he was president. He has failed to follow precedent and opened his mouth, which has gotten him into trouble. People say McCain is losing it because of his age...McCain's got a much better head than Carter, granted he is 12 years younger. So it looks like McCain will be alright for at least 4 years.

Jimmy Carter is not "an idiot".

He was instrumental in numerous Clinton-era peace negotiations including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, he has made great human rights advances with the Carter Center, and he is a Nobel Peace Prize recipient.

He was a decidedly sub-par President, due in large part to his general ignorance and inexperience in regards to all matters economic.

I think that George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter are both among the 10 least effective Presidents in U.S. History. I would not, however, go so far as to call the younger Bush "an idiot", even though I disagree with his politics.

Back to the topic of the thread, I agree that it is preposterous for Jimmy Carter to be rampaging against another President's economic policies.

Carter should probably STFU before he starts speaking about economics.

He left US citizens in the hands of Iran State-sponsored terrorists until they decided it would be best to release them before Reagan came into office. He has initiated a few things that have worked out but let's be real here, a stopped clock is right twice a day.

Nobel Peace Prize? The same one awarded to Al Gore? That's supposed to mean something in the real world?

I agree with that.

I call Carter an idiot based more on what he has done in the last 10 years or so, not due to his incompetence as President.

I think Carter is thoughtful and well meaning. That being said it does not mean he was not an ineffective president and wrong on most issues.
