I meant your computer, pictures of the other thing to my inbox

I`m sure we have a lot of computer enthusiasts and modders on the board and I thought it would be fun if everybody showed us the rigs they are postwhoring on. I just built this cute little guy, my first. The darned thing works too, I`m pretty proud of my first go at computer building. The bug has bit me hard, I just sold one of my Skylines and the first thing I spent some of the coin on was parts for my next one

It`s a little Machspeed MicroATX MOBO in an offbrand case. I had ordered all the fruity UV-reactive stuff for a clear acrylic case but the post office smashed it nicely on it`s way to me! I missed my NICO brothers though and was unwilling to wait for a replacement so I just fired up the nibbler and took a big chunk out of the side of the steel case [IMG][/IMG] I built it just to surf the net so it is running onboard sound and video, a basic Celeron CPU and a single 256MB stick of RAM. I surfs fine but try to fire up a serious game and it comes to a screeching halt. No foul, it does what I built it for and looks cool doing it.

I threw a little water cooling kit in it, nothing serious I just wanted to try it out on a system that I could afford to lose if a hose burst, no troubles.

props to Newegg.com, Xoxide.com and to a lesser extent Tigerdirect.com, getting them to ship to an FPO was too much trouble, Newegg rules!

Oh, AMD 64, that`s what my next rig will be running, how do you like yours? I`m building a media computer for acrchiving and streaming my CDs, DVDs and recorded TV. I just ordered a wicked ASUS socket 754 MOBO and a gig of Crucial Ballistix memory.

Take this:Athlon 700, 384MB, 25GB

And shove it into a beige box that came from a six year-old Gateway. If not for cooling issues, I'd put a cloth over it and use it as a drink stand.

I love my parents' AMD 64. I actually had Far Cry and DOOM 3 running simultaneously at playable framerates on that machine. Of course, having only one keyboard and mouse, I couldn't play them both, but it's good to know it can do that much.

My roommate's AMD 64 was made by who knows what company and used in a LAN party corner of a used games shop. He bought it for 800 dollars. That was four months ago. It already needs a hard disk reformat and a reinstall of Windows...of course, he didn't get a disk with it, so we're still waiting for the one that was supposed to come in the mail last week straight from MS tech support.

I have a terrible, horrible feeling I'm going to have to live at my parent's house the week HL2 comes out just so I'll be able to play it. (Not that I don't like my family--but I'd obviously rather be able to play it at home.)

We've already had this war, remember. I've got the oldest desktops AND laptops on the site. The "normal" looking one that is also a piece of crap I described above is my best computer right now: A PIII 500 with 64 megs of ram and a 16 mb Rage MobilePro.

Heh, my sister is still using my first computer...PI 200 w/ 64megs of ram and an on board graphics and sound card. I don't know how she uses it...

My desktop is AMD Athlon XP 2400+ currently w/ only 256megs of ram because my 512 chip fried itself earlier this week On an FIC AU13 MB w. GeForce FX 5200 128mb graphics. 60gb, 30gb, and 40gb external for hard drives. Running on a dual monitor setup. This system is over a year old now, and it's time for an upgrade. My laptop is working on it's 4th year of service... Dell Inspiron 4000. PIII 700, 320 mb RAM, ATI Mobility M3 graphics... bleh. I barely even use this anymore, it's to frustratingly slow.

I can about guaruntee I got you all beat. Intel 8086 640k of ram no hard drive, 5.25 512k floppy and external 3.5 712k floppy. Dos 3.1, self written autoexc.bat and memory allocation file. My brother and I built it when I was 7 and he was 9 in like 1987 and it was the sh#t back then. I still get on it occasionally to play video games that won't run on 32bit systems or emulators. Other than I use 3.2Ghz 1GB RAM toshiba loptop or old IBM 200MMX 560X that I actually use suprisingly often. My parents basement also has a bone yard of all the desktops that my father brother and I have had over the years. There is seriously like 10-12 computers down there.

Nothing fancy. You can see the chair that I basically live in. I have my 4.1 (used to have a 5.1 Dolby setup that I messed up moving in) setup so that I have 2 speakers on my desk and one on each arm of the chair. Wireless mouse and keyboard are nice too. Guts are cheap a$$ mobo (bout to get a Abit IC7 MAXIII) with Kingston 256MB RAM (PC2700:() and my very clocked 9700Pro (Omega drivers baby!) and a 2.4GHz P4 (if I get MAXIII, will go to ~3.2GHz on air cooling). Thinking about going 1GB Corsair XMS here soon. Monitor is a Sony Trinitron flat screen CRT in 21". Mostly a gaming PC (but so little RAM) and surprinsingly I can run Halo at 1280x1024 w/ roughly 28fps with damn near everything turned on. Bling.

I have a Dell 8300 with 768ram, radeon 9800PRO, gigabit ethernet card, the usual dvd rom and cd-rw drives, and 120 GB SATA HD. I also run an older Gateway. I don't remeber what is in it though. I only use it for chatting while I'm playing games on the other one. I think the Gateway is ready to crap out though. Oh yeah, 17" Mitsu CRT on the Dell and 17"LCD for the gateway.

I was thinking about getting one of those small form shuttle boxes to replace the Gateway. Anybody heard anything about those?

I knew a guy that had a 2.4GHz P4 clocked to 3.2GHz on air cooling, 1GB of Corsair XMS PC3200 RAM, DVD+R drive, and a 9700 Pro in a shuttle that he built. Was his gaming PC. He loved it, but I still like have room for multiple drives, etc.

That`s a hell of an overclock! I`m lokking at the Coolermaster CM stacker for my next case, 11 optical drive bays, 9 of which can be converted to hold 12 hard drives and twin power supplies.
