Well it took a while, but the NHTSA gave me Show or Display exemption on the Nismo R32 Skyline GT-R. Cars are over 21 years old now, and with Show or Display, they are DOT exempt but can only be driven 2500 miles a year until they are 25 years old. Then once 25 mileage is unlimited. California is always an issue, but I am moving forward with California, but expect it to be an expensive thing to bring into compliance.

Once I got the letter, I went looking for cars and just happened to get two cars the same day. #383 and #500. #383 needs some work, but is sold to a friend. #500, well that is for me. I am looking for some more Nismo's to import now. Real cars. Show or Display. EPA exempt. The Nismo's are fairly rare as only 500 were sold to the public. Prices on the cars vary, but they are more expensive than your run of the mill R32 GT-R.

Excellent, keep up the good work. Most people don't want to deal with it and are probably waiting the remaining few years.

Deal with what? An application?http://www.showordisplay.com/p/vehicle-application.html

Once the cars turn 25 years old, then they are unlimited mileage.

I helped one guy in Japan get his approval already.

From what I've seen the Gov had gotten strict about the show/display clause.

Rather have a R34 anyway so I'd have a ways to wait :)

You have a long wait for R34. 1999 so 2024.

Yep. I'd get a R35 today but don't want to have it as a DD and the maintenance expense. I'll stick with my G for now.

Do you think this could have been done with the First 500 for the homolagation process? Considering their place in GTR history as cementing the cars return. JW thats all.

Its possible. However.

The 1989's turn 25 years old in 2014.

It took the NHTSA - 14 months to approve the Nismo Show or Display application.

Yeah I'm not to worried about it now. I was just wondering what your thoughts were. I just bought my second R32 and managed to get number 222 so I have two below 500.

If you don't mind...how much did you pay for the Nismos? Most I see on both japanese and english auction pages say "ask". Honestly I'm just too lazy to get an interpreter to call and ask.

The prices vary. I know of one for sale now, that doesnt run. They want 1.1 million yen for it. Another with about 90k miles for 26k. I know of another with 1900 km for 3.5 million.

There is a website- showordisplay.com. Its a side thing, could never survive off just doing GT-R or car import.

You sound nothing like imagined. LOL.

Cool video, though. The 400R question is a good one. If I ever come across one that's not an arm, leg and a testicle, I might consider picking one up.

What was I supposed to sound like? Haha. Born in NZ, but lived nearly my whole life in LA.

A 400R so hard to find. We have seen a few over the years, but they usually only last a few days before they are sold. Usually big money for an R33. They are 1996-1998, so 21 years in 2017-2019 for EPA exemption. Would have to try and get all the chassis numbers of the 40-44 cars they sold. Not an impossible task, I know a few people at Nismo/Nissan that might help.

It was pretty funny. The guys from GT Channel were behind me, and I laughed a bit about having to get out too.

Would your letter cover any nismo car in that chassis number range, or would someone need to file their own application as well?
Edit: nevermimd. I see the application that needs to be filled out for a specific vehicle. Thanks for doing the hard part!
