Ladies and Gents - I just got my Altima Coupe and love it so far, however I can't deal with the florida heat and will need to Tint the windows ASAP.

I'm looking for photos of a Dark SLATE coupe with different window tint options. Please post any photos you have and let me know what %of tint and what "color" ie smoke, black, mirrored etc.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated

Not to poop on your thread, but "tints" don't really photograph well.

You won't learn much from a picture - I could show you my car and none of you could guess what % or type of material it is.

just so that you have it

http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/

tint laws for each state.

i have a percision grey with ms state limit because thats all that the dealer would do... 28 is good (what i have ) 20 or 25 would be better.

I have 5% tint all the way around. You can really see the difference between 5% tint and no tint with the AS1 line going across the windshield.

Well I'm not really looking for the tint % anyway. more than likely i'll be going with 20%.... my concern is the color or shade. I have a very reflective metallic on my other car, and my last car had dark blackish color.

basically i'm looking to see what the smokey colors look like compared to the reflective metallic colors.

Dark means nothing, and has nothing to do with heat transmission through the glass.

Huper Optik is fairly light but blocks more heat and is the best-performing tint on the market (but pricey).

Don't mistake visible light for heat, they're not the same.

AZ you seem very up to date on your conceptual physics, i honestly learned what you just stated during this past semester, and you are absolutely correct, heat comes in waves of visible and non-visible or ultraviolet light, the only way to decrease the amount of heat is to get a tint with a high polarization level, which i'm guessing isn't to common. I have 5% tint bought from walmart and installed by my friend who is a professional. I can honestly say my car is just as hot now as it was before, so if you're looking for a tint that refracts heat you may want to do a little research.

Here's a link to a tint installer here in La Jolla, CA

http://www.ljwindowtinting.com/additional.html

as you can see from his price list, tint varies... a lot. It is important that you understand the different types of tint. Only then can you make an informed decision on what a good price is for a particular quality tint job.

Most people get duped into paying for crappy tint that looks good at first, but will look like crap in a couple of years! There is a huge difference between "Delta" cheapo tint, and Solar Guard "Quantum" tint, and I'm not just talking metallic vs. non metallic.

Bottom line is, if you want a quality tint job, it will cost, and that's because the actualt tint itself costs the dealer more, so they have to charge you more! The install labor is the same at a particular installer, so all the difference in price is attributable in the quality of the tint.

I went with Solar Guard's "Quantum" 28% tint. Its a metallic, scratch resistant tint with a lifetime no fade warranty. Its metallic, so the color will never change!

In the end, you get what you pay for! Don't be afraid to spend a little more for high quality stuff!!! you won't be sorry!

Yeah, you definitly get what you pay for with tints. If they won't offer you a lifetime warranty the quality is not good and the color will fade eventually.

I choose the 3M 18% charcoal color. Came with lifetime warranty installed at local shop for $230 + tax and shop BS
