I'm new to the forum and I plan on reading all the info in here. HOWEVER I'm also lazy so if someone posted this question before I apologize. I own a 1990 240sx coupe. I want to build the KA24 and was lucky enought to find a twin cam for my year. If anyone has built this block instead of the sr20 swap give me some advice. The main problem I have is that there is not a lot of stuff for my year, most bolt ons are 95 and up, and in Miami a machine shop is literally a bunch of dudes working on machines, not boring and polishing blocks. appreciate your help.

So someone swapped in the ka24de? Lucky you...

My advice: Just read and read.. and do a search when someone brings up an unfamiliar concept.

It's the best way to learn.

I'm posting again to see if I can get a couple more answers. I saw the project 240 install but it didn't help much. Anybody out there?

What kind of info are you looking for? We kinda need specific questions (even though yes you're right, this info has been asked and answered MANY times before).

I also dont really understand which engine you have. You say you have a 1990 which came with the single cam KA24E, but you mentioned a twin cam engine? The twin cam model (KA24DE) only came in 1991 cars and above. You can swap a DE into a 1990 car, but it requires some custom work. This info has also been posted around. Are you looking for parts for a DE or an E? What kind of parts are you talking about, etc etc.. More questions will get you better answers!

Good luck dude

In my mind things sound nice, then I type!! anyhow, The car is a 1990 body and I just got a 92 twin cam engine to swap in. I figured if I want to boost more than 7 psi I should probably leave the sohc as a paperweight. My questions are: 1 has someone had a good experience building up that 92 block 2 where can I find the turbo parts for a 92 ka24de"t" (most bolt ons are meant for 95 and up) 3 does anyone in the miami area know who ports and polishes (the trouble here is that all machine shops in my yellow pages only work on like woodchippers and automatic milking machines and I seriously don't trust my engine with a guy who doesn't know what porting is.)Looking around I found a couple comprehensive projects. I want to mention Erichs 240 turbo. Nice page dude. So if anyone has an answer to those 3 questions, you will be repayed in lemons and barley.

if u have a 92 motor. it's almost the exact same as a 95 motor so dont worry if u can only find most parts for year 95. However i doubt that is tru in the first place becuz 91-93 has as much support as 95+

I would start calling through there and see what you can find. Also look for a local car club/forum or whatever. I guarantee there are people in miami who have serious engine work done-- find those people and you will find your shop.

As far as places to buy parts there are tons and tons. Just for starters for engine internals and whatnot, a lot of people use ka24de.com, also check out our sponsors-- especially boostdesigns.com, who is actually the sponsor of this exact forum section. Coincidence? I think not!
