I think that anybody under 18 or 21 should get driving probation after a ticket.. if they **** up again they lose the license for 6 months+ (depending on how bad it is...)

Also people who wreck (and its their fault) should get suspended licenses, I have a friend who drove like a ****ing moron and totalled two cars within like 4 months?

just my .02

Well if you're a teenager and you cause an accident your insurance is usually gonna be so high you can't drive anymore, but yeah, they should take licenses away anyway.

i didnt read the last 6 or so posts but ill give my input. first off im 16. second, statistacly talking 21 yr olds have the most accidents then comes the younger drivers. third, rules are stricter for younger drivers (atleast in PA). u must have a Jr. license 1 yr-1.5 yrs depending on if u took driver's ed. with a Jr. license the consiquences of breaking rules are much stricter (zero tolerance) and we can only be on the road 6am-11pm. along with some other rules. the driver's ed. does work. i just finished driver's ed. and even though pretty much everything they teach you is common sense, the fact that they go over it makes it less likley for you to doubt yourself in a situation where u need to make a decision. it is proven that driver's ed. works because the insurance companies notice people who have taken it are less likley to have accidents and therefore they lower the insurance cost for poeple who have completed the coarse. over the years, new laws have been made for driving and officers are enforcing laws much harder now than before. in the early 80's officers were more likely to drive slowlt be hind a confirmed drunk driver until they get home rather than arresting them. yes, a lot of kids cant handle the responsibility of a license at age 16 but very few of them will have matured by the age of 18 to understand the privilage. some people are just going to drive fast and aggressive until they learn their lesson or die no matter the age. plus it would be odd to have 18 yr olds that must accept the responsibility of themselves as adults and not even know how to drive. the only way i could see having the driving age increased is to some how choose the ones that are not ready for the responsibility and restrict their ability to get a licanse but we know that cant happen

I fully agree with the idea of making it harder, I should have needed my 100+ hours w/ my permit in the test. All I really had to do was go slow and drive like an old grandma. Then again, for 16 I'm probably one of the better drivers out there (ahem! I said FOR A 16 yr old), so it makes sense how easy it was. Making the age 18 would probably encourage more stupidity by 15-17yr olds (say, borrowing dad's Z while he's on a trip...), so I don't really see a point in raising it.
