Hey guys, well it's like this, the other day I got a great deal on a 89 240sx it wasnt in the best condition to say the least but ...a great deal. Originaly I bought it as a project car to mess with from time to time then some old dude crashed into my other car totaling it...so after I swaped in a rebuilt ka24e this week..well it's being done atm. Heres the question I bought this with a reconstructed title do you think it'd be worth it to mod it any? or would you just get around with it till you could get another one?

Is it your only ride? Then don't mod it.

If its a spare toy, then sure.

Either way, get the money printing presses started.

Oh in that case no, salvage titles are like sh1t thats already been flushed and the owner yanked it from the sewers and fixed it up.

I'd stay clear away, they are just cans of worms waiting to be opened.

If you know for sure that anything that's wrong with it is fixable and you don't plan on selling it, then why not?

S3, very true, but if you need it for transport, then use it as that only. No high dollar items. Only spend money on that which is vital to get from A to B.

If you're lucky you'll find a younger fella who won't care if it has a salvage title or not, and just want to be JDM. You can unload it on him and make a profit, and still be honest about it, because sooner or later you'll find a kid just wanting the 240sx so bad that salvage title or not it'll be what he wants to have. What a sickness media hype can be. Use it to your advantage!

To me..a reconstructed title only matters if you are going to sell it. Of course if someone did a crappy job, then thats another problem. As for what I'm finding out ,as a new 240 owner, once you buy it, its yours forever- this is a good thing.

if it's got a salvage title, I think I'd just get crazy with it, being it's not gonna have much resale value, so might as well make it a race car!

Thanks for more input guys, I dont plan on selling any car I get pretty soon, but I'v never had a reconstructed title car till now I might get new body parts for it fenders, front and rear bumpers, paint it and clean it up a bit...but I'm gonna wait and see if I wanna drop an sr into it. Hopefully I'll find a good s14 in the next few months and I can just drop this one.

Its an 89, its worth squat anyway. Do whatever you want to the car, just don't expect to make any money back if you decide to sell it, or if you crash it, or it gets crashed into.
