Hi,
I have an infiniti 2006 G35 with 50,000miles on it. I change the oil every 4000-5000 miles (full syn) but I have never keep up with the maintenance schedules before. I think at 60k miles that's where everybody send their cars in the shop and do the "big" maintenance. Do you guys think I should do it now since I haven't keep up with the schedule anyway? My car runs fine, nothing abnomal. Do you guys go to the infiniti dealership for maintenance or not? if not, where do you recommend for this type of jobs?

Thanks

No harm in taking it in just for an inspection. I think it's a good time for any car around the 60K mile mark to get an inspection done. I'd say go to the dealer, but it's up to you.

Yes,
The belts usually start developing cracks around 40k to 50K.
I would check into a transmission and coolant flush.
Also, you might want to get prices from your local Nissan dealership since they can do everything (non-warranty related) usually cheaper.
Also, might want to check to see if your valve covers are leaking in on your plugs before your powertrain is up....if it isn't already.

I waited till 105k

Did the plugs, belts, coolent flush, MAF cleaned all at the dealer

42 oil changes so far every 3-3.5k miles

I've had great results from a local ASE certified service facility in my little town (Ashland, VA). Have not had the Infiniti to him, but Mac charged a little over half the dealer price for the 30K on 3 of my Subaru turbos, followed the Subaru checklist, and he routinely changed fluids (brake, trans, coolant) that the dealer procedure called for "inspect and change if needed".

Don't know where you are, but it's likely that an independent Nissan specialist with credible certifications would save you a lot of money over an Infiniti dealer, and probably a fair amount over a Nissan dealer.

BTW, the plugs and belts are ez to do yourself.
would probably hold off a while on the plugs, unless you are going to check for oil around the plugs, then might as well change them while you are at it....

i take my car to the dealership for an oil change and free inspection every chance i get (only dealer is 1 hr away), then i let them do "big" work every 30k. But when i cant get to the Dealer i found a local shop that i let do my oil changes/tire rotations.

I'm a big believer in finding a local guy/gal you can trust. For me the dealer is almost 1 hour away and they are at least in my mind very expensive. I have a 2011 x Coupe now but with my prior 2005 G35x the dealer told me the trans fluid was very dirty, I took it to the local guy who said it was not even arguably in need of a change. Also things like belts and brakes are just so much more at the dealer. I think you get very good service and high quality work from the dealer but you do pay the price.
