look up mtcooksen, he did what you are askign about, well I'm not sure if he finnished but he sis have his vg30et mounting in his z32, the mounts are pretty near the same (you have to relocate the turbo and use the n/a drivers side mount)

the weight differebce will be mostly due to the reduced piping

personally I like the vg30et better than the vg30dett, I feel the vg30dett is overengineered, the single cam has nearly the same potential with fewer parts and fewer potential parts to fail, most Z32 guys will argue against it but then most z32 guys have never owned an older z, I presently have a z31 and a z32 and I much prefer the z31

I hate threads like this, I opened it up expecting to see a completed swap.

Way to hate PB. If you want a full build thread then post your own up. If you don't have anything nice to say, then maybe you should go find something else to do. He asked for your thoughts on the possibility of a swap. Not what you thought of his thread.

Well, what I thought about his thread is what he got. I can be understanding, if the thread was titled "what do you think of this? VG30ET Z32". Or even "VG30ET Z32". But when you type up the title he did, and open with "check this out" followed by 11 more explanation points then needed it raises my expectations.

But you want my thoughts on the matter? Okay, pretty much what evildky said. I will go on to say that I do not have a completed swap of this nature to post up, mainly because I would not see the need to swap in a motor with the same potential. It's money best spent getting a new DE for the Z32.

As for what will swap over with the aid of a welder between a Z31 and a Z32, I'd say the entire rear suspension, rear end, differential. And the brakes. You'd have to figure out how to rig up the e-brake if you use the Z32 rear calipers. As for the front suspension, I don't know of anybody off the top of my head who has adapted anything there, but if you are creative enough you could probably get the coilovers themselves to work. The suspension arms, and such would probably end up like an S13 front swap, the geometry doesn't work out. I'd personally sell the fronts, and part the rest of the car out to offset the cost of putting coilovers (S13/Subie Stances with the weld on sleeve for instance) on the front of the Z31 suspension.

Or drop a good DE in the Z32 and drift that b****.

i was going to change the thread to rb 240 s13 or z31 0r vg 240 or z31, or rb26 s13 from the looks of it i will post up pics!. we choose and I can go to town. the vg30et 240 s13 seemd ok. z32 was sold today. i got the filling theres better choices here.i really started looking into this rb26dett swap into the s13.i never found the info if the rb20 transmission bolt up and if gears could swap and shafts, shift forks. and what oil pan i use or make a custom one. if i keep the rbs13 what im driving now. under 6000.00 i can use the drive train thats already in, and switch oil pans or make custom one and custom exhaust and go to single rb26. i want a sweet ride when i get my license back in march. how do I post up pics? do i do custom header or rb25?20? and oil pan custom or 25?20? but ima buy what is availabl. ill post even tho 20+ done of all swaps but i will post up pics in the morning. thanx for the opinions i didnt kno some had already done it.

this is the classic z section so when you say 240 we assume you mean 240z, if you mean s13 or s14 please specify to avoid confusion

as for rb swaps into the s13.14 chassis you'll have better luck in the 240sx sections, there are threads in the classic section detailing rb swaps into the s30 and z31 chassis, although I feel the rb is overpriced and cheaper options are available for high hp builds in the 30 and z31 chassis

Danke sehr evildky.

Now an RB swap in a 240SX wouldn't be too hard (fab-wise). There are bolt in kits for pretty much everything. I think they even make a wiring harness for it... You could stick with the RB20/25 transmissions, biggest problem there is the speed sensor, I can't recall if it will fit without cutting the car's body out. You will need to price all the swap parts out to see how it fits in your budget.

As for posting a photo, you will have to host it by uploading it to a site like photobucket. Afterward, under the pic there will be a few links, you put the one with the img brackets in your text box and when it posts it will display the picture. Some forums have it so that you can attach an image and it gets hosted on-site, but if this site has that feature I haven't found it yet. Probably disabled for bandwidth conservation.

thanx i found a really good thread to follow up. I may go to a rb26, i checkd the compression on the rb20, it failed. ima pull it out. the cheapest front clip to the 26 i found is 4500. is there any cheaper? if not, im going to order the swap for 2900. and keep the rb20 transmission.[IMG][/IMG]http://s771.photobucket.com/albums/xx352/qx56tz31zx/

the cost is when I much prefer to stick with the L28 or VG's, they offer similar potential at a fraction of the cost
