Im in the process of doing my headgasket right now, almost have the head off, extremely close. However after doing all this I want to make sure I do it right the first time, because I do NOT want to do this again.

I bought a cosmetic gasket off a buddy of mine for $100. Its like a tripple layer metal gasket type deal, clearly been used. The story behind it was that he put it on his car, started her, and he used stock bolts or something and it leaked coolant everywhere, so he took it off, and then I bought it off him. But is the gasket ok after its been torqued down on a different CA? He told me it would be ok, actually i think hes on this forum, but after all this im doubting using it. What do you guys think? If you say don't use it, any recommendations? I Felpro? Enjuku? anything else? Thanks.

ps, i bought arp studs specific for ca18, so that everything goes smooth.

and i have already read through this thread.

Thanks guys, peace.

IMO there is something that makes them have trouble sealing on our motors. IDK if it's the gasket, or just our motor. Some people have no problems at all, and some never get them to seal.

I'd say that if you think it will seal, then use it, it's a great HG. If you're worried about it, go with the Felpro. They're tried and true to at least 300hp on a regular basis.

Doesnt matter that its been installed once? I think the brand is like "cosmetic gasket" or something like that.

Thanks though, we will see.

supposedly a bead type head gasket can be reused but I wouldn't take the chance.

You're supposed to be able to re-use them, but i don't have any experience with it.
