ok, so I did the dirty deed and called maaco today, just to you know hear what they have to say.

I asked him if he could give me a estimate over the phone and he said he could try but without seeing the actual body of the car he couldnt. we started talking and I said thatI needed a body kit installed plus a full paint job, I asked him how much it would be to install a body kit, and paint the car. I told him this exactly " I dont want to be rude at all, but this is my pride and joy, I hear you guys have 4 different paint services available, but I also hear that 50% of your clients leave unhappy. is this because they purchase the ****ty car paint package?" his reply " yes, the reason their paint looks bad is because they choose our crappy job which will show signs in at most a year."

He then said just about 3 weeks ago we installed a silvia front end on a 240sx. my question is, do you think if I sand my car down and sort of prep it myself. then bring my version:select body kit to them, they will do a good job? if I buy the most expensive package?, I know you cant go cheap with body work but how hard would it be for myself to install the version select body kit? did dave (owner of VS), use appoxy or somthing to adhesive it to the car? also, what do I need to make this body kit last? I really want it to turn out nice, but I also dont want ot spend a arm and a leg getting it installed.

Im seriously stuck on what to do how hard would it be to install the VS kit and make it nice? also if I took my time and di the best job possible would it be different then getting it professionaly installed? I just really need help her eon what to do....

can anybody post pictures of their car that either had a body kit installed by themselfs... or installed by maaco or earl scheib, or a car painted by maaco or earl scheib?

I'm no body kit installer, but I'll help get this ttt because I'd like to know how body kit are attached if they're not all nice and bolt to stock holes. Good Luck!

I honestly i would get some help and install it yourself carefully. If they do a "pimp my ride" install with screws all over and body filler you are going to be sorry. I have seen good body shops do crappy paint jobs. It is hard to say about maaco. Good luck.

All I remember from people going macco, is that the paint will be crap most of the time. But prepping is key, and will last longer if you do the prep work before hand. I saw 1 car with a macco paint job locally didn't look bad at all. When dropping it off etc. make sure you tell them to NOT to overspray.I would try and find a better bodyshop..save up some more if doable.

if you do get a maaco paint job, I would make sure they are going to do the paint the "right" way. What I mean is that I hear that maaco mixes the paint and the clear coats together instead of spraying them seperate. Maybe on their better jobs they don't do this, but that is one of the major problems with their paint jobs.
