If you really want to lease, then I wouldn't mod it unless you're doing like adidas and buying it after the lease is up...gnr112 wrote:hey guys, just needed some opinions from you guys.I drive an '04 Acura TL 5AT now, but i'm interested in coupe cars with manual transmission now, so i can get into modifying cars and stuff. So i'm thinking about trading my TL in to lease an altima coupe. My family and friends said i shouldn't do this cuz changing from Acura to Nissan is like downgrading my taste. so i'm kinda struggling now. any thoughts guys?
Let's throw in the GT-R too.AltiCoupeDriver wrote:Hmm. Since your from Canada, you'll probably be better off with AWD or FWD for a daily driver. If you want another quick luxury sedan, go for the new Maxima. 290HP 4 door sports car, cant go wrong with that.
But if you can afford it, the new Audi TTRS Quattro...
I hope those extra 20+ horsepower adds some pep in the Maxima's step... I'm in a 07 Maxima Rental right now, and I think the 2.5 A/C is quicker than this thing... it just feels so dang slow and sluggish.... ... sorry not a maxima fanAltiCoupeDriver wrote:Hmm. Modding it how? so far, with a few regrettable exceptions, the a/c is shjowing itself to not exactly be a ricer or a tuner car. Theres tons of mods coming out for it, but in the long run once its established its gonna be more performance geared, not import tuner or fast and furious junk.gnr112 wrote:hey guys, just needed some opinions from you guys.I drive an '04 Acura TL 5AT now, but i'm interested in coupe cars with manual transmission now, so i can get into modifying cars and stuff. Subaru STI would be my first choice if I had only one car, I have a plow truck for the snow stormsgnr112 wrote:well...i bought a used TL..the place i live snow at least half a year, so i don't wanna drive RWD cars and spending money on 19" winter tires..
I'm not sure I would describe it as a downgrade in taste - but it is a downgrade in the class that these cars exist in. The TL I believe is considered a "near-Luxury" or entry level luxury car while the altima would probably be considered compact family or sporty coupe. I downgraded from a Lexus LS 400 (Premium Luxury) to the Infiniti G35 near or entry level luxury. Even though the Lex was 8 years older than the G - it was still of higher quality overall.gnr112 wrote:hey guys, just needed some opinions from you guys.I drive an '04 Acura TL 5AT now, but i'm interested in coupe cars with manual transmission now, so i can get into modifying cars and stuff. I agree with everything you said in your first post... defninately a downgrade in class ... you're spot on regarding the sound deadening, people don't realize that that's a big part of the luxury quiet feel, they use quality sound deadener around the entire vehicle, and they use an extra "luxury liner" type material to get at the two types of road noise, vibrational and sonic.Cali 2 Balti G wrote:
I've heard that the RLs haven't been selling that well - I think Acura is going to do a minor restyle. I think in the Premium Japanese Sedan market Lexus has completely smashed the competition with the LS. Nissan (Infiniti) doesn't even have an entry in this field.
Slow RL sales should be great for prospective buyers new and used. The results is usually deep discounts.
wrx and sti are for performance junkies... but looks????PhEnoM78 wrote:go buy a used sti or a new wrx they r hot n they r awd n u could do mad stuff to em
Nah that would have been the Q if it were still made. The M is in the middle luxury segment (not sure what the proper segment name would be). Before the M - infiniti had no entry in this class. This class would include the Mercedes E, Infiniti M, Bmw 5 series and Lexus G. All are midsize and offer a chpice of 6 or 8 cylinders. The Germans also offer "Tuner" versions - that can climb you further up the ladder - ex. AMG and M.rjdmmfl1 wrote:
Infiniti's entry in the premium sedan model is the Infiniti M, but as you said it doesn't sell nearly as well as the Lexus G or series
ahh, i see what you mean regarding the classes, I forgot all about the Q series , wonder what happened and why they discountined it, poor sales I guess...Cali 2 Balti G wrote:

The Q was in the premium class of the Mercedes S, Bmw 7 and lexus LS. This class gets you 6, 8 or in many cases 12 cylinders. The Acura rl is in this segment as well. Technically I thnk most of the premium japanese cars could also considered to be in the class of the German middle segment cars mentioned in the prior paragraph. This is especially true with regards to price.
Here is where I think the Lexus LS stands out - because they now offer a premium sedan with a 12 cylinder. The first I believe for a non-german manufacturer.
Also Lex is competing hard in the entry level with the IS and now the F version to compete with AMG and M.
p.s. nice system - I'm convinced you are trying to be a pioneer in Altima Coupe audio/video history I'm thinkin you on the payroll.
