I am thinking about trading my Maxima for a Z32 TT. Here's the link to my original thread on the subject, with more specifics http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....68602

what are your needs of the car? if you want a tt, then it will be a two-seater. the 2+2 only comes in n/a form, and it costs a lot of money and a lot of time to make a n/a into a tt. so you are pretty much stuck with a 2-seater. a 300zx comes with all the sports car characteristics, great speed, great handling, not that practical. it depends on what you want.

Yeah...the seating was one of my big concerns...but right now I'm stuck with a 2 seat Ranger half the time, so that won't really be a big deal. It's rare that I have more than one person in my car anyhow. My needs for a car amount to this: Goes where I want, when I want, is reliable. If I could settle for a strip-model ford ranger, a Z is well within those criteria--especially since it has a trunk instead of a bed. I see the Z as an affordable direction for a high end sports car. Basically, the Z32 is one of my must have cars, and I have a chance to have one, but at the loss of my Maxima, which has been in my family since it rolled off the lot, so I know it's been taken care of and which I love to drive and have huge plans for. What is the general price range for a twin turbo Z32? Before I even get to decide, I need to know if I can get enough cash from my other 2 cars to cover most of it.

Great looking car, by the way. Very nice wheels, and that blue looks good on just about any Nissan sports car, especially the Z32 and R34.

for a tt in good shape, you will probably have to spend over 10k. 300zx is pretty reliable, i know somebody who drove their tt from kc to denver once a week for a year and never had anything go wrong. but once something does go wrong, you better have a lot of money unless you can do the work yourself.

thanks for the compliments on my car.

I do most everything myself on my cars, unless it requires proprietary tools or something like that. That's part of the reason I want the Z. If I can't get the twin turbo, I'd still like to go with the 2+2. I can survive without the turbos, and the VE is still an upgrade from my SOHC VG. I had intended to drop a VQ40 under the hood eventually anway (originally planned for my Maxima, but it would be much simpler on a Z). How much cheaper is the n/a version? Yours is a 2+2, right? It has the wrong trunk lid for the TT.

ve? the 300zx has a vg. my engine is pretty much the same engine as is in your maxima. really the only main difference is the cams. getting to anything on a 300zx is very hard. everything is so cramped in the engine bay. you have to know quite a bit about a 300zx to work on it. but it is all worth it to me.

The Z32 TT is one of my favorite cars out there. I say go for it.

Z cars are know for being a bit on the pricy side to maintain but worth it.
