ok so i am trying to finish the s15 swap somewhat done today (get the SR into my s14) so i was wondering should i sent the ecu to get tuned while i am waiting for the harness to come back from wiring specialties ? ot should i get the car all put together and running and then deal with things like that. my plan for the rest of the engine is this. intake, exhaust, down pipe, BOV reciculating type, i'll keep the rest stock untill budget allows. any advice would be greatly appreciated. also i'll be replacing the differential to one from a j30 ot something and doing a custom driveshaft, so money would be really tight. so again my question is should i get the ecu tuned now or later?thanks

Personally I would keep everything stock to have some sort of a baseline as per performance, idle, exhaust sound etc. Then as you make changes you can see (or feel) the results.

There's not much fun in hopping something up if you don't know how much it has improved things or in some cases, make it worse.

Good luck!

given that it's an S15, and there are bound to be issues with mating it in an older chassis, i would keep everything stock to minimize headaches of troubleshooting. I can't say how many times I've had stupid issues pop up when we were installing a slightly modded S13 motor into an S13 chassis.

sounds like a plan. as i had first intended, keep as much of it stock as possible and then later on mod them as they come along. now i don't think small bolt ons would cause any problems, right? things like turbo back exhaust, intake, some new spark plugs, and maybe a bov. also to the list of things i got done yesterday , 6 speed convertion and 5 lug convertion and for whomever that was planing to use the japanese brake pedal to replace the automatic brake pedal, rest assured it wont fit and you'd have to cut the big pedal to fit to size. i'll try to post more updayes and pictures as it comes along.
