So I am in Conneticut and I need to get to Kansas City in two weeks. I have a V six 91 Nissan Maxima SE SOHC that has no compression in the number 5 cylinder. I have been told by many people that I probably have a malfunctioning exuast valve. This is what a mechanic determined just with compression tests not with acctually opening up the head. My question is can I drive it from Conneticut to Kansas City safely? What are the possibilities of a breakdown. Does anyone have any sugestions of how I can either cheaply fix the problem here or safley drive it back home where I know people that can do a valve job. I feel really stuck and confused as to what to do. I could really use some advice.

Thanks to all of you out there in cyber land

YoursJonathan

Driving that far on 5 cylinders would scare the crap out of me. You'd have no idea where you might break down. Then to get a repair or tow from there would cost you a pretty penny. You might try looking for a replacement head, or bite the bullit and have the valve job done now.
