Hey guys, pretty new here and to the Z community in general. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! So, even though i’m generally a greenie when it comes to this sorta thing, the z32 has always been my dream car and i’ve done the basic research on it and know some basic mechanic skills. i had recently bought a z32 N/A manual RHD that was imported from japan… all OEM except a few maintenance upgrades in the bay and the wheels. has an oil leak in the rear main seal but i’m ganna get that fixed. few paint chips near the spoiler and a small tear in the seat as well as the control center being slightly cracked; all things pretty fixable/replaceable. the car only has 71k miles on it and it’s pretty well kept. my plan is to swap the engine for a TT but my question is if it’s worth the money. should i fix up any remaining issues and sell it? bc the engine is in great condition and would kinda be a waste to swap/convert. if i sell it i could use that money to find another shell (preferably RHD manual) and swap the engine. I’m feeling conflicted bc it’s kinda rare to find such a car in good condition with lowish miles… only if it was TT! What would you guys recommend? literally anything helps.

I swapped a perfectly running NA when my clutch went. This was many years ago. If I were to do it all again, I would've replaced the clutch, sold the car and bought a TT. The only reason to swap is if you have a special connection with the car or if you just have to have that 4.09 rear end, and even then, you can always swap an NA rear end (with subframe) into a TT for extra burnout power. All that said, the difference in the price of similar condition TTs and NAs is growing so you're not going to be able to buy a TT for the proceeds from an NA. RHDs are still cheaper than resident North American Delivery cars, I personally despise driving RHD but that's a personal preference.

"the difference in the price of similar condition TTs and NAs is growing so you're not going to be able to buy a TT for the proceeds from an NA."

Shouldn't the math should be "buy a TT" vs proceeds of selling an NA + Cash (and time) saved from "NOT doing a swap" ??

That math is in essence correct but the original question as I interpreted it was "Can I buy a TT for the proceeds from my NA if I fix up my NA and sell it?" The answer to which is "Not in the same condition." A mint NA will net you enough to buy a rough TT. Roughly. . .
