I have a 07 M35X with all options but rear dvd & recline seats.
Before I bought my 07 I was looking for over 2 months for a clean 08 or 09 loaded but was not finding any. This 07 came up with everything but a few more miles then I wanted (79k) . But it was clean and worked a good deal on it.

Well a few months later I like the car so much I want a newer lower mile one because I know I'll keep the car for awhile. But again issues even locating a loaded 11 or newer.

? is should I even really spend the extra money to go newer and is the upgrade only in my head?

So the guys that have went from 07ish to a newer one what are your thoughts?

You need to provide more data:

1. How much did you buy the 2007 for?
2. How much can you sell trade for?
3. Est Purchase price of 2011 and miles.
4. How many miles do you put on the car each yr?

Personally, I would keep the 2007 until they do a major M makeover then buy that. I don't really like how Infiniti has treated the M vs. G over the last few years. I had a 2007 M35X originally and at that time it was way ahead of BMWs, Audis, etc, in terms of price, features and performance. I feel that gap has narrowed and the M isn't as special as it use to be.

2. How much can you sell trade for? I have no idea, i've had zero interest in it so far on cragslist. I looked on Autotrader and some of the same ones I looked at for sale back in Nov are still on there, so guessing these cars are a hard sell.
3. Est Purchase price of 2011 and miles. I'd like to be around $30k and guessing 20-30k miles.
4. How many miles do you put on the car each yr? Not too many, right now I have 4 cars (looking to downsize to only 2) and my job is less then 15 mins away.

I like my 07 and beside a few wheel scuffs it's pretty much perfect and has the maintenance to go with it (one owner before me). But spending twice as much for a shinner car might not be worth it. Guessing both will lose about the same value. I'd be all over a new one (next model) but don't have the cash flow for that.

Keep your 2007 M35 and wait until you see something you like much better not just a marginal upgrade. One issue with trying to sell expensive used cars privately is that most banks wont finance cars with over 75,000 miles.

I think lagalaxy8 needs somebody who's driven the previous model Y50, who now has a 2011 or newer style to chime in.

besides the obvious styling differences inside and out (you either love it or hate it, the look is starting to grow on me--I'd have to get it in black with the sports aero front fascia and lower it)

you'll be trading up to the 7 speed transmission vs the 5 speed (so mpg should be slightly improved)...still amazes me that my wife's 2012 V6 Dodge Durango can be at 2100 rpm at 80 mph and my M is at almost 3000 rpm cruising the highway.
have you thought about the hybrid? 360 combined HP seems like it should satisfy a lot of power hounds, plus waaaay better gas mileage.

BUT, you also have to deal with hard drive based navigation -gotta go to the dealer to upgrade. I like my '06 DVD-based nav....you can buy an almost new disc someone is trying to sell when they upgrade to the latest for much cheaper than buying new and of course there are some other possibilities too.... :naughty:

ultimately, I would probably wait to see what tweaks that Infiniti should be making to the Q70, I am hoping it's substantially different than the Q50 - It deserves to be more than just a larger/stretched out version of the Q50.

I still have my 07 M35 RWD but I have driven a few 2010 & 2011 M's and the new Q50 as well.

My impressions, for whatever worth you give them:

1) the newer body style is completely different - not sporty, not aggressive, and not much different than any model from other car makers like Hyundai or KIA. The body (aside from the gopping grille) is ho-hum, wavy, and lackluster.
2) the 7-spd gearbox does not shift as well as the 5-spd. G and M owners have both reported this and I personally have found this in those that I have driven. It's NOT horrible by ANY means, just doesn't perform as well as the the older 5-spd gearbox and the increased fuel economy is not significant.
3) The interior is not all that different although they removed buttons form the steering wheel, placed the NAV screen in a different spot, and changed the inside door trim to an equally wavy design. On the up-side, if you go with the wood accent, those pieces are more posh looking.
4) the 10 & 11 models have a couple options the 07 didn't have available but nothing significant enough to make up for the loss of the sporty, aggressive styling.

I'm assuming that your present 07 is paid for so now is the time you get to own a great car without payments. You didn't mention how many miles you have on your 07 aside from the purchase mileages. I reckon mine will last close to 150k miles before I need major work so that's about half the life for your M. I still have peeps asking me what year because it looks and rides like new. They cannot believe it's an 07. If possible I would await until the actual re-make of the Q70 when it gets the fully new body style in the next year or two. If they don't change it significantly and it still has that pensioner's body style, and you want to keep in the Nissan /Infiniti family, I recommend the new Maxima or the Q70-L since that longer body decreases the wavy look and the new front end is less gopping.
The only newer cars that I fancy are the Audi A7, A6 sedan, and the Jag-L version. Those are not as reliable as the Nissan / Infiniti cars so I'm waiting to see what Infiniti does with the newest Q70 before I decide if I want a new car. If the new Q is still lackluster, I will probably keep mine or go with the new Maxima which has all the options the new Infiniti's have plus an amazingly sporty, aggressive stance AND a panoramic roof which I fear we will never see on an Infiniti.

Another suggestion is to visit the other group for owners of M37 / M56 / Q70. Read the posts to see what trouble, if any, those owners report and get a feel for what they love or dislike about those models.

Thanks for the info so far. Looks like no reason to sell it ;)

Mine has 82k on it. All the maintenance has been done at Infiniti, guy before me even paid for valet service eveytime, so car has been taken care of reason I bought it. Only thing I don't like about mine is the tan interior.

I have owned 2006 2008 and current 2013 m
the 2013 is way better
I enjoyed the 2006 for 100k and almost the same on the 2008
but this 2013 is really something else, gas mileage ,although not a big deal on a 50g car ,is 20 to 30 % better.
The ride is much better ,the 2006 was rear wheel drive and i enjoyed it ,and both the 2008 and the 2013 are all wheel and the 2013 is as nice a ride or better than the 2006 without the x stiff ride I had in the 2008.
I enjoy the style of 2013 and find it to be a much more impressive luxury car ,much like the Q45 I owned before the M.

I just bought my 2007 M35 but I'm kinda looking for a 2011 M37/56 as well. The main question you should be asking yourself is if you're ok with the price difference. Your current M (2007 M35x with 82k miles) should sell for around $15-16,000 give or take the color, options, and condition. I'm looking at fully loaded black 2011 M37's (sport, aero, and tech packages) and with like 30-50k miles in good condition, they're selling through auction between $29-33,000. I'm guessing dealers are selling them between $35-40,000. So you're out of pocket nearly $20,000 IF you have your current car paid off. Plus, because newer cars depreciate faster than older cars, you'll be losing at least $2-3,000 per year in depreciation...not to mention the new redesigned Q70 should be coming around the corner soon...

Basically, if you can afford that price difference and really like the 2011 M, go for it. If not, the 07 M35 is a great car!
