I am going to be running a cometic HG on my DE-T. I know that I need to have the head and block resurfaced and have the lower timing cover bolted to the block when it gets resurfaced. Should I have the upper timing cover bolted to the head while its being resurfaced?

Yes they need to take the same amount off the upper and lower as they do the head and block--or it will never fit right.

yes, i've had this happen to me with stock hgs when resurfacing the head by itself, the upper front cover wont fit with the head bein milled down, i cut that part of the gasket to make it fit(this was a stock felpro gasket, resurfaced head but not upper front cover)

Really watch for this, I didn't have either of my covers machined, and it still fit together(ish). I put it together and blew a head gasket in about 1500 miles. With a cometic it pumped oil out from the head gasket because the lower timing chain cover was holding up the head.
