Hey all, I just purchased a 2007 m35x and had read that the ECU "learns" your driving habits. Would it be beneficial to reset the ECU so the previous owner's driving isn't taken into the equation?

I realize this wont hurt anything and will probably do it anyways. This is more for the sake of starting a discussion on this cold and rainy day :toast:

do a search on it

I remember seeing a pattern to follow which clears the driving habit, it may also clear the trans too. :gotme

I did this with my key started G35 a number of times. With the M it's practically impossible.

What do you mean? As in resetting the ECU in the M is impossible? Cause from what I remember the procedure is quite easy and I have done it myself.

another way to reset the ECU is to unplug the negative battery cable, then pump the brake pedal a few times to discharge the ECU. wait approx 5-10mins... reconnect the negative battery cable...start car and let idle for 1-2 minutes...then go out and drive your car...I would say city driving and hwy combined. Your ECU will relearn your driving patterns...

power drive = ECU learns to drive aggressively

easy going drive = ECU learns leisure driving :lolling:

Works well!!! :dblthumb:

BTW, for those that have the UpRev programming, this procedure will not harm the UpRev programming. I put my setting to 'sport' map after I reset my ECU.... :bigthumb:
