I am thinking about putting a new engine in my 95 Nissan Maxima. I have enjoyed driving this car and thinking about putting it back on the road. The Nissan now will not move. Sounds like it's locked up inside of the motor.
I have an estimate of about $2300 = 1500 labor + 800 used engine. The engine is coming from everdrive.com. I have read good stories about them. As of now I don’t too much put into this car. I only paid a $1.00 for the car and put 5kmiles on it. It’s in great shape other then the engine. What your thoughts?

IMHO that is completely up to you. The I would think about is, what would I do if put this 2300 USED motor in my car and the transmission takes a dump 3 days later. If you have the money a new car is always awesome. But if you dont have 5g's, check the regional forums and see if there are any member local who may be able to give you a better deal on install. 1500 is a little steep, because a knowledgeable mechanic should be able to do the whole swap in ~ 2 days

I personally wouldnt. Spending 2300 on a 15 year old car? You'll prolly have other problems soon anyway. I put a transmission in my taurus sho, spent a couple of grand and the car just kept having issues. You could prolly buy a newer maxima/i30 in pretty good shape for a little more.

Well, I wouldn't because you will never be satisfied with the car because you will always be scared it will break again with good reason. You won't put things that you would really like into the car, because most likely you will need a full tune up as well. I just resently bought a 1993 Nissan Maxima from craigslist listed $1500 for $1100, and am planning on mabye fixing it up. When i got it only the belts were out {squeal when starts} and it squeaks slightly when i brake. I runs perfectly and i got the belts fixed for $45, still a slight squeak in front wheel around the time i break, not sure what it is but not major, and will be dealt with.
