So ive been looking for a decent 240sx for about a year now, recently i met a friend who has an 86 online that lives 3 minutes away from me and ive really been wanting to hoon around with him or atleast work on cars with him so ive been searching multiple times a day for a 240 and no luck, it seems like all of the "good deals" aka single cams with no rust on the shell not running or driving dont even have the title in their name. am i missing something? everyone i contact has something big wrong with the car. i have 2000 to spend on this 240 and about 4000 for the sr swap, i was planning on putting some of the money (2000) to the side incase i do find a decent hatch while building and i would end up swapping the parts over. i see this white vert and want to know what you guys think about buying it for 2000, i dont really like verts but im just tired of waiting. also the back has a fat dent in it i will post the pic the guy sent me.

If you're wanting to do a swap, I would only worry about the state of the body (eg. rust, suspension, electrical, etc.) and that it has a good title. If you're planning to swap, there isn't much point in finding one with a running motor (unless you plan on selling that?)

Unfortunately, with only 2k to spend you might have to look around for a bit, or consider looking in the southern states for rust-free shells. Look at it this way - the longer you spend looking, the more money you can save up for the build. If you buy one with a lot of problems now, you'll be kicking yourself later. Just my 2 cents

Well, since you are asking for opinions, i'd rather get the vert. Its way way cleaner than the other one, yea you would have to spend on the swap, but body is waaay better. The dent, if you dont feel like taking it out, just buy a trunk and the garnish )?
That is if you like the body, if you want a hatch... don't buy that either. you can wait for one in better condition. Matter fact, i saw one in copart, clean title, original paint. All pretty going for 3k. 100k miles original it already sold, but its just giving you hope. Don't buy someone else unfinished project, thats like asking for trouble.
