Hi everyone,

I am planning on purchasing a new QX60, but recently heard about the recall with the brakes and also the three recalls on the 2013 JX35. Eagar to hear your thoughts as if this should be a dealbreaker for me of if I should still go for it.

Your responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome!
The vehicle is new so you'll be covered under warranty, and Inifniti will give you a loaner in the interim while they repair your vehicle. If it were me, I'd purchase it, recalls and all. It'll still be a better (and more reliable) vehicle than a comparable German marque.

Welcome to NICO.

I did a little digging on the recall, and basically all they do is reprogram the ABS system. So, it's all computer based stuff. There's nothing physically wrong with the vehicle, they will just reprogram the ABS when you get it, and the fix is pretty simple.
Nissan Motor Co is recalling 188,000 sport utility vehicles globally, mostly in the United States, to fix faulty brake control software that may increase the risk of a crash, the Detroit News reported.

In the United States, the recall affects about 151,000 Nissan Pathfinders from model years 2013 and 2014, as well as Infiniti JX35 SUVs from model year 2013, and QX60 SUVs from model year 2014, the company said. Smaller numbers of SUVs are affected in Canada, China, Russia, Mexico and other countries.

Nissan said there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the problem.

In the affected vehicles, on rough or uneven roads, software settings in the anti-lock braking system may lead to stopping distances that are longer than drivers expect, Nissan said.

Nissan will notify owners within the next 60 days, and dealers will reprogram the anti-lock braking system at no cost, according to documents filed online with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If you're concerned about it, just make sure the dealer does the recall before you take delivery of the car and you should have no issues. I would NOT let this be a deal-breaker.

What it sounds like to me is that on rough roads the ABS goes off when it really shouldn't. Not really a big deal IMO, especially knowing the fix is in the computers.
