Ok I've been looking for awhile now, and no one seems to have any motors in stock, and if they do, want to charge an arm and a leg to ship here to HAWAII! I know someone who is selling one, but only has motor and transmission, no ecu and no wiring harness...and is asking $2000! I know its pretty high and all, I"m almost tempted to purchase it any how. Can someone inform me, how much I should ACTUALLY PAY for a motor and transmission only? Also, if I do purchase this, should I just go for a SDS or some other type of Stand Alone system, instead of purchasing the stock components needed?

NO...

you should first realize your overwhelming proximity to the land of the rising sun and contact maybe flashoptions.... or something. I'm sure they have engines and the shipping would be easier if you got it from the source rather than getting one from a guy who got it from another guy who got it from the source.

A motor and transmission is usually about 1000-1200. Of course in Japan its like 500 or less.

What part of Hawaii are you from? There are several shops here that bring in motors but only a few of them are willing to help you out. The repair shop I used to work at can get SR's but I nevr checked on the pricing from our source. My friend has a complete redtop sitting in his garage that he might be willing to sell since he dont have time to install it in his car anymore.
