Car: all about automobiles, i love them

Post

I live in flagstaff, Arizona and just the other day i was looking around in a local car lot (honest guys) and noticed that there was a 1992 Q45a sitting by its lonesome self. I have always loved the Q and wanted to check it out. The interior is tan/brown it's in very good shape. All the electrics work except the bose radio(wont turn on). This has the active suspension on it and i have heard horrible stories about it. The car has 133,300 on the odo, she starts right up and purrrs. She's is green(faded on the hood and boot), new tires. The only thing a OBD said was brake pads worn and stop lights inoperable. So is this worth it $2000.00, i don't know any mechanics who will look at the car for me up here. My mechanic only works on German cars.

If I'd had the space for a second car I'd pick up a 2k Q. thats running in a heartbeat.

Unless its a total wreck. but if the engine has a good idle than the rest of the car may have been taken care of, as well, at least mechanically. And even if not just the plethora of spare parts that a running Q will contain..:drooling

Fred...:)

If you don't have a qualified mechanic nearby AND lots of $$$$$, I'd stay away. It's priced that low because it's more a liability than an asset.

You could easily spend $8000 or more in one year fixing things.

But you could always approach it as a disposable item, do minimal maintenance, and throw it away when something awful goes wrong.....

If it runs well, and there are no waring lights on when running (but all on when stopped), its a great buy for miles.

We canget the active system suspension back to a smooth ride for $1000.
