Hey all. New to the forums looking for a few opinions. Found a 91 z32 slicktop for 1500. According to the seller, the engine runs but siezes after overheating. The engine suffers from rod knock according to the seller. More information below. Im very new to Z cars but really want to get my hands on this if its worth it. Please give me your opinions on how much a fix of this magnitude would cost me or if this car is worth fixing

Straight from the listing.

1991 Nissan 300zx N/A Slicktop Coupe
155xxx original miles
5 Speed Manual
Clean title
Original 300zx key and spare

Unfortunately the engine just started to seize and will need to be replaced or worked on. More details below.

INTERIOR:
-Tweed seats (coupe)
-Automatic climate control
-Sony aftermarket deck (has bluetooth and iPhone/Aux inputs)
-Kenwood Amp and Kicker Subwoofer (professionally wired and installed)
-Kenwood speakers (same)

EXTERIOR/UPGRADES:
-Greddy catback exhaust
-Stage 3, 6 puck clutch ("Good luck wearing it out" -my mechanic. He didn't give me a cheap one.)
-Upgraded taillights
-K&N filters
-Performance tires w/ 65% tread left (and America's Tire warrantee)
-Aftermarket rims
-Aftermarket alarm system with remote

THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN REPLACED:
-Rack and Pinion
-Heater core
-Tie rods and brackets
-Other suspension parts
-Rear axel
-Radiator
-Timing belt
-Drive belts
-Oil changes every 3000 miles (tire rotation every other oil change)
-Hoses
-Spark plugs
-Battery

MECHANICS:
-Engine is seizing/locking up due to age and rod knock (replacement or mechanic to work on cylinders)
-Brake pads/rotors (shakes when braking sometimes)
-Wheel alignment
-Power steering fluid lines need to be flushed

The car is currently parked by my house, she will start and drive until the engine gets hot and locks up in a seizure. Just like in humans, the car recovers from the seizure and will repeat. It would make it to your house or to the shop to be worked on.

1500 for a clean slicktop with a bad engine is a very good price

I agree it's a good price, but it seems like there is a lot more you'll need to do to it to get it to reliable operating condition such as brakes/front suspension (shaking), and PS/rack (hoses/seals) not to mention the regular-old, maintenance needs of a 23+ year old car.
If you are aware and willing to tackle a fairly detailed project and have some $ to play with you should end up with a sweet car, just be SURE you know what you are doing or have a Z guy to help you out.
