Ok I got a greddy td-06 20g turbo conplete kit bolt on. Should I pay a shop to install it are just try to do it myself? My car just hit 110,000 and its a automatic transmission. Do I need to swap out the transmission, I want a 5 speed but I'm not going to get it if I really don't need it. The car is my daily so I'm among for 6-8 psi. How much would a shop charge me?I took it to one so far they told me they well give me the price after they are finished.i don't want to get ripped off.

I think you should look into upgraded other things than spending top dollar on a high end turbo kit and running minimal boost out of a decent sized turbo, especially with 100k on the engine. As for the install its really up to you if you feel you can handle it. If you have no experience, then a shop might be the way to go. For the auto to manual swap thats really up to you also. I would do some more research before you make any decisions.

I've always found turbo automatic appealing. High stall converter and a upgraded or manual valve body from some aussie folk would be super.bad a**!!!

Tried SR20DET @ 10 psi + stock SR auto trans twice - both cars blew the auto trans in under 500 miles. Now this was not grandma driving, but seriously if you do it line up spare transmissions in a row in your garage......

The stock valve body causes to much slipping on the clutch sets so I could see that being an issue. I

dude if someone is even willing to take such a HUGE project on, like bolting on a turbo, then you should just pay them whatever they are asking because that is extremely hard for a noobie to do

Definitely hire someone to do it. Going from NA to Turbo is not an entry-level project.

I'd place a bet that you either can't finish the install or you do something majorly wrong which will cause you issues down the road.

The other alternative is to find a buddy to both help you do the conversion and then teach you along the way. Still risky compared to taking it to a reputable shop.

Good luck. :)
