My M35 is less than 3 weeks old and I am disappointed with the MPG (11.5-13.5 city) So I contacted my dealer and am having them run some numbers for me now on a M45. I figured if I'm going to get crap MPG I might as well do it in with an 8, or should I just keep the M35?

How much are you going to lose changing cars like that? It might not be worth it but then again it might be.

Surprised at that low of MPG. I have a 2007 M35X. In Nashville driving I get 16-17 on the Highway I get 21-22. I use 91 octaine mostly sometimes 93.

I would be upset also.

.....my M didn't start getting good MPG till 25k. Now at 31.5k, I've been averaging 20-21 on every tank urban/suburban driving...50% interstate. previously, mostly 17-19. On trips, she'll do 25/26 if I hold it under 80. That's not bad for a 4000# sports sedan with 280 ponies!

Most dealers would keep too much of your money on a trade in. Your 35 can get better mileage. Look for a solution

Ca996,Have you reached out to Infiniti corporate? Every blue moon, you might speak to someone who can affect change. Tell them your story and that you are not satisfied. Moreover, given how little time you have owned it, you might have a snowballs chance in he**. Worst case though, the difference between the M35 to the M45 is pretty steep. That being said, there is something to be said for the V8 in the 45. Given the difference in M.P.G seems negligable, get the 45. How about a year old C.P.O M45? That might make the hit less painful.Cheers,Mark

I would say shouldn't. Unless you have a VERY understanding dealership, chances are you are going to get ****** on the trade in. I would get them to troubleshoot the issue, and if its not resolved, try to lemon it. No point in getting a car that has even worse mileage.

There would have to be something seriously wrong with the car for it to fall into Lemon Law territory. Poor gas mileage does not fall into that area. Gas mileage relies on so many variables that I would bet money that the dealership will tell you there is no problem at all, and unless something is verified as a problem, nothing will be done.

If you are pounding the fast pedal all the time, mileage will be miserable.

The V8 is not that much worse for mileage, especially if you like to drive enthusiastically.

Best deal would be to sell your car yourself.
