Well $2500 Canadian equals like $1usd, so it's a fair price.

Really though, yes that's a good price (if the motor comes with everything such as MAFS, Ignitor, ECU, Wire Harness, transmission, ect). Also, if it's a s14 motor, that's a really good deal!

Its impossible for us, people on an online message board to tell you if that engine is in good shape. You should be present during a start up and compression/leakdown test. Taking the valve cover off is rather easy so ask em if you can take a peek at the top of the head (valves/cams/rockers) all that stuff. It should give you a pretty good idea of that... see I kinda got bonerfied on the SR I now have since the Night7 thing happened and I never got my Rb25, but luckily the other day my friends dad who is a mechanic for the sheriff's department and I took a lookie lou and everything looks really good. The compression was 150 across all 4 on a cold test so I got lucky. the compression should be between like 142 minimum and 156 maximum from a cold compression test meaning engine isn't at all warmed up from running first. I'm probably way off on this one so someone else please fill in the facts here.

also as far as doing it yourself... when I got my 240sx about two years ago changing a faulty headlamp motor was a HUGE deal took me like 3 junkyard visits to get all the parts and like a day to do it.... from there I now completely removed, installed, and troubleshooted ( with massive help from the people on this board) the engine to the point of running. So if you have any mechanical inclination and patience you could probably do it. My vice turned out to be a horrendously poor wiring job by the previous owner. Car sat dead 4 for months baffling me. One day I said **** it. bought a new harness. Set the timing. Blam started right up.

Yes the SR is a good engine. If your KA is in good shape, depending on the hp you want, you can also consider a turbo KA.

If the motor you're looking at is 100% complete, and the seller guarantees startup, that's a really good buy though. :) Complete s14 swaps are usually closer to $3k USA...so that's around $10bil Canadian. ;)

As for installation...it all depends on how comfortable you are. On an s14 motor going into an s14, I hear that wiring's a little more difficult.
