I got my 2008 G35x last week

and I m thinking about getting 19inch rims for my G but

my friend said if I keep my stock springs, it will look ugly

because of the gap. Since its AWD i dont wanna mess

around with my suspension.

Any comments or ideas?

Unless your going to the track, I wouldn't bother with lowering the car. It will look fine with the OEM suspension....but that's just my opinion.

I would not lower it.

The gap in the wheel well is easier to fix with the sidewall profile on your tires.

For example if you had 215/50/17 (25.5" tall) before and you bought 19" wheels just buy 235/35/19 (25.5" tall) and they will be the same size.

From what I've read on the forum it seems like its difficult to get the cars aligned after you lower them. Lots of camber issues.

it's hard enough as it is with a 2WD coupe that also usually never holds the same amount of passenger weight as a sedan. Not to mention it's an X. I'm sure someone with an X will chime in here in a bit, but from what I've heard, it's an even bigger PITA, there's simply more stuff to have to tune and that could go wrong. I'm with gwoods on this one, bigger tires is the way to go!

....now a coupe that is intended for more than a daily commute....oh ya!but your sedan will still look good. Infiniti didn't make the same mistake as alot of GM cars and give it enough wheel gap to be comparable with a pickup.

it's not the look issues it's the camber issues. You don't want to rape your tires. They do say the stillen camber things help alot though. But you're looking at another 2 grand for front and back just for parts. Just get the rims with a lil meat on em.

my sedan is lowered...it has some negative camber, but not enough to cause tire destruction...with proper rotation my tires will be fine. all cars experience camber "issues" when lowered...

we shall see..i have the tein s techs. 2 inch front, i.3 in the rear. and as for alignment problems, all i care about is tow..because no car comes factory with camber adjust plates. its a given when lowering a car that it will get negative camber. set the tow and rotate often.

Do what I did...

get a used 350z suspension. 350z owners switch out suspension all the time and this will give you a little lower/stiffer overall feel plus it will be cheap.

If you lower past 1" you will need the camber kits and you can actually get them pretty cheap.

I just put on 20's, and it looks crazy sick... (without being dropped) They fill the wheel well very nicely, and also, the tires are 35mm low pros, so the actual tire diameter is only a few mm in difference... Oh, and the handling is way, way, way better, I have 18" 350Z wheels also, and 17" infiniti 6 spoke pieces of crap... I'm yet to try my 18s, but the handling on the 55 series 17" tires was absolutely disgusting, it felt like I was trying to steer a f$%king parade float.

I looked at my car this morning, and everyone I've asked so far, said it's fine as is, no need to bother, and for you, with 19"s... I'd say, don't worry about it.... What tires are you running?
