Why would you want to swap in a VG?

But yeah, quite a few people make decent numbers with the sohc. Turbo'ed that is, which I'm assuming what you want to do. The dohc KA is the superior engine though, but for 200-300HP the sohc will do just fine.

because where i live there is a crapload of Zs just laying around and a 3.0L would be better (in my opinion). itd be heavier but the power potential would be alot better than the KA

EDIT: A VG would be a waste of money in a 240.

Figure out your budget first. If it's around $2000, turbo the sohc. If you got some hookups, you might be able to swap in a dohc and turbo that, but that's really stretching it. And with the turbo on that budget, you'll be making around 200whp give or take a little.

VG's are all Aluminum and would center the weight better that the KA. Look up the VG30DETT swap on here it never was finished but there are pics I'd post the link but I'm lazy.

kade swap + mild turbo setup

the vg30de (which im assuming you are referring to) swap is completely pointless, tt i belive will have to be converted to single turbo because of the space, and the na vg isnt very impressive, even with all the major mods, including tuning. you will be lucky to get 200-220 TOPS to the wheels with a fully built na where you can get that with just a simple turbo setup, even on your sohc. this doesnt even include how much time and money it will cost for you to fabricate everything, source all your parts, wiring, etc..... with that said, im not going into what motor you should use, but just because its a z motor and a v6, its nothing special, unless its in a z32 because they are sexy.

Compression test, valve seals. Pull the pan to weld in a return line bung, and plug it.

JGS makes a good turbo kit. Buy that.

2500 dollars later and you have a SOHC KA that s*** on Mustangs.

If the SOHC works, don't swap it for a DOHC and turbo that... waste of time and money for 15 horsepower.
