I am rebuilding a 1992 240sx coupe from the ground up. Should i keep the ABS system. I am using this car as a summer car only. I am leaning towards no ABS. On a side note. Anyone know if one of the ABS sensors is also the vechicle speed sensor.

I say keep it, heres why. Whenever theres a job to be done, we as humans can do it good. But when we have a mechanical not to mention speed advantage, it becomes that much easier to do the job. Even though our two forties came with a very primative and simple ABS system, to me it's better than not having ABS at all. Obviously you know by now that the computer is able to prevent lock up better and faster than you can, so i see that as an advantage. It might add a few more pounds here and there for the necessary components but its suppose to help with stability and control which if you wanted to drive on a track lets say, would seem like an advantage aswell.

I try thinking about it in the same terms as Power Steering, Power Brakes, or ABS brakes. They all give you some kind of mechanical advantage. Thats my two cents for now...

Daily? Keep the ABS. Heck, even if you were racing it, I'd keep it. I know the ABS in the s13 is primative, but it's still not that bad.

For a racing situation, I prefer to not have it, but that is simply because I'm confident enough in my braking abilities that I know that I'm darn close, if not as good as the stock ABS system.

it is not going to be a daily driver, my daily driven car will still be my civic or a work truck. mainly a weekend warrior. it is purely a summer car. I put empasis on this because i live in canada and ABS would be a plus for a winter car. I am planning on good rubber, some kind of high end toyo proxies. I have ABS on of 2002 civic which kicks in all the time during the winter when roads are icy but i don't think it has ever kicked in during the summer which is why i am considering ditching it.

ABS irritates me. I like to actually drive my sports cars and all the gizmos serve to seperate me from a solid connection to the car. I also yank power steering but that is my quirk. If it were a daily driver though I would say no. A weekend only fun car nothing but the basics for me.
