I've never done a tune up on my pathfinder , how hard is it and what do I need besides the spark plugs and air filter ?
My pathfinder is running perfectly fine . What type of spark plugs should I use iridium or double platinum? The double platinum came with the pathfinder but I've been hearing that the iridium plugs are just as good and last longer and are less expensive. :dblthumb:

Which engine do you have? The 3.3 has a rotor, cap and wires, so changing those would be included in the tuneup. The 3.5 has ignition coils atop each plug which, unless you have a misfire, don't need to be replaced.

Obviously, I would also check or replace hoses, air filter, and belts.

I have the 3.5 wit the coil packs and it's not misfiring , changed the air filter already and I'm planning on changing the belts. Should I stick with the double platinum spark plugs ? Or go with iridium?

I would just stick with the standard plugs that came with the car. The difference, if any, is negligible at best.

Agreed, your best course of action is to stick with the recommended NGK PLFR5A-11. People here have had problems with different brands/models.

Does anyone have feed back on the autolite double platinum plugs , my mechanic is planning on installing them tomorrow. Unfortunately the supplier is closed tomorrow so we can't exchange them for the ngk's

The only advantage with regards to platinum or iridium plugs is its longevity. In fact, copper plugs have the best performance because of its conductive properties. For me, I rather stick to copper plugs and change them out every 20/30 miles or so. No biggie.
