Whats up guys, Ill be getting an SR20det swaped into my s13 hopefully by Feb. Ive been reading alot of info on here about the Sr20 swaps and the thing that keeps popping up the most is "Oil Starvation". Ive already been through 2 spun bearing problems on my ka and i was checking my oil every other week am i going to be needing to do this too with with this motor??I really dont want to keep my KA but if im going to be running into problems i just might have too. Thanks for the reply's

Its usually only a problem if the pickup tube is obstructed. Ive had my last SR for about 50000 miles with no problems to date. It just depends on the condition of the engine you get and the condition of the oil pan.

Just check the oil pan and make sure it's not dented and if it is just fix it before you install the engine. and buy your engine from a reliable source (Nico sponsor).

ill just buy a greddy oil pan when i get it. Denetsu Motorsports will be doing the swap. I found them on az240sx.org I live in New Mexico and i dont trust anybody around here to do the swap. I dont have the time to try and do myself or with friends and its my daily driver so ill just let them do it. Thanks for the info though. Makes me want to go ahead and go through with the swap.

I couldn't imagine purchasing a used high performance engine and NOT whippin' the oil pan off for a peek inside before installation.

Sure, you wouldn't want to look at diddly squat if it was a stock engine swap on a Cavalier or something, but in our case...just couldn't imagine gamb|ing on it.

Out of 4 sr20s that I had, none has let me down yet. The 1st was sold because it was an extra and was used for a yr. 2nd is still running strong for the 5th yr I think as a daily driver, 3rd one stolen in my fb, and 4th one currently for about 6 months. Depends what you do with your vehicle and how much routine and preventive maintenance you give it.
