I was just reading the October issue of Import Tuner and they talked about a few very nice and fast 240's. I have a catback exaust and an air intake (both ractive). The magazine says that changing my 4 pulleys would be a good idea to increase HP. Is that what I should do next?

Any suggestions on what to change next if not the pulleys? Any suggestions on what brand?

Any help is good help.

for some reason i never saw the big thrill with getting pulleys...plus, they are too damn expensive! All that they will do is free up horsepower, they WILL NOT CREATE IT. they only reduce rotational weight and the mass that the belts need to drive...So yes, they'll make the car rev faster. if anything, I'd first switch to an electrical fan instead of a belt fan...or, try lowering the rotational mass where it really counts---the wheels!

i think anytime you take stress off the engine its a good idea. when you turn your air condition on you notice a big difference in performance. both electric fan and pulleys take stress off the engine allowing it to turn more freely. in short i think both are a good idea.

Thanks for your reply. I did not know about the electrical fan. I will look into it in the spring. Time to save up some $$$$$. I heard a better fuel pump is also good... any suggestions?

Better pump won't do anything, unless you start boosting the air in there =)

BTW: The ASP pulley is a slightly heavier duplicate of the UR pulley and REALLY cheap ($119). And thats a good thing, b/c ASP has claimed that this helps to dampen the harmonics that are a result of the monster KA crank. I'm about to put mine on when I get some other parts in the mail.

FYI: The stock Crank Pulley has its harmonic balancer built into it.

I changed to an electric fan in my Nissan truck. It helped a decent amount. Maybe .1 faster in the 1/4, but there was a pretty nice gas mileage increase, especially on the freeway. It went from about 23 to 27. Only gained about 1mpg in the city though. I travel a lot so I know my figures are acurate.

I agree with flip240. I bought my ASP pulley since it didn't remove the harmonic balancer and it was cheaper (only $99 at http://www.rpmoutlet.com ) than the UR pulley.
