I think you should go with the 5-speed swap. Here's my logic:
If you have a track car, meaning you use it almost exclusively off the street, then, in the long run, you'd benefit from a manual transmission. True, you won't have the performance a nitrous system would provide, but then again, to make that as effective as you'd like with the auto transmission, you'll need to modify the transmission some. In the end, you'd probably spend more doing that.
If you drive your car around town, to work, school or whatever, then you'll get to enjoy a 5-speed swap much more often than your nitrous.
And you don't have to listen to people who say spraying nitrous is "cheating." It's not cheating anymore than a good turbo timer. Hell, what about dropping a Skyline motor into an S chassis? Why isn't THAT cheating? If you want to think like that, the only people who aren't "cheating" are those with NA KA engines in their 240's.
And take it from me, playing "honestly" makes you REALLY slow.
Regardless, I agree with what others have said... you should avoid the nitrous for now if only because of your limited budget. Refills can get expensive... unless you're a dentist.
