I am about to pull my passenger side turbo out of my car to rebuild it (just a temporary fix until I get bigger turbos). Do I have to get the turbo balanced before I put it back in the car?

Are you rebuilding it or is a shop? its always a better idea to get it balanced, it will work without balancing (provided you align everything on the shaft correctly during re-assembly) but it is always best to check.

I'm doing it myself. I've read where some people say you don't have to and where others say you 100% have to do it. So if it don't is it a higher chance of it going bad again?

yes they will not last as long, you can get away with putting reference marks on the wheels and housings but they spin so fast the only way to get it right is to re balance. even the little nut in the middle holding on the comp blade has to be just right...

Rebuilding them yourselves with a genuine rebuild kit and having them balanced is still cheaper than getting new turbos. Just get em balanced :bigthumb:
