My almost new set of rims & tires from a 2003 Q45 finally came in. I can see the weights on the rims....and since there is only 300 miles on them should I stick them on? Or take them to a shop and have them balanced first?

They should alreay be balanced as they arrived.

but I am sure your installer will gladly check balance for you for a minimal fee.

New tires tend to change a lot during the first 1,000 miles.

Found them on E-bay. Set for $960.00 with shipping & tax I paid $1183.00. Tires aren't quite what I want but there decent. Pirelli P600 225 / 55 / 17 97H. I'll try and post a link in a bit.

I'd put them on and see how they run... Depending on how they're balanced at your installer's shop, the factory balance may be more accurate than what you'll get there. With those rims you'll probably want to find someone who has a Hunter GSP 9700 http://209.176.154.132/pub/search/findgsp9700.cfm for balancing those lip-less wheels!

Grind off metal and permanently glue metal weights on wheels with data from the wheels alone on the 9700...........perfect wheels then every stickon weight is for the tires alone.

I have such bad luck with used wheels always seems two are good and 1-2 are badly out of balance [those used on curb side].

I too, am looking for some Factory wheels. I want the M45 or Q45 chrome or polished wheels in the 18" size.

If anybody finds these, give me a shout.

I was inspecting my rims last night, and I noticed that the weights are all glued on, and are 1/4 ounce & 7 grams. All the rims have weights placed on the inner and outer edge. What has me worried is I can see where some weigts had been removed. (old glue) Which may mean that it was rebalanced....my biggest surprise was to find (8) weigths on one side and (4) on the other. Isn't that a lot of weights? Once again tires have 300 miles on them....look like it as well...still have the little rubber nipples on them. Tires - Pirelli 600 225 / 55 /17 97H.

Does anyone know if Sears has the Hunter GSP 9700? Thanks for the advice....

Use the link in my earlier post... I think it varies by location. Flat-spotting and wheel vibration issues appear to be common on the Q's - probably due to the extended time sitting on the lots

I'd just try them first and see how they ride... then if they need rebalancing you can do it.
