Damn.
I'm a bit bummed that this didn't happen a little later in the summer...
My GXE's exhaust just gave up the ghost... and I'm in no way ready to get a bunch of uber-cool exhaust components.
I really don't wanna go OEM though.
... and I don't know if I need to just replace from the cat back, or if I need to replace the flex pipe as well...
Check this out:
I hope I have the proper understanding of all the components of my GXE's exhaust system... so do you think I need to replace the flex pipe?
If yes, then I might as well get a new cat as well...
I want all the new pipe to be 2.5", and I don't want the resonator any more... so...
What do you guys think about the following?:
I take my GLE's OEM style catback setup (it's basically brand new, just installed like 30 days ago) to the muffler shop, and I ask them to custom bend a replica of it, except in 2.5" format, and without a resonator.
I'll also purchase a muffler specific to the maxima so I don't have to screw around with mounting it....
And as for the flex pipe and cat, well, if you guys think it should be replaced then I will do so... I'll go OEM style with these components and make sure there's a reducer installed on the front of my custom bent pipe.
Good idea? Yes? No?
And I'm having trouble finding any aftermarket mufflers that are specific to the maxima and include the proper mounts... Does anyone have a link or name for me? I just wanna get a $70-$120 muffler if at all possible... if I HAVE to get a universal muffler, I will... I just wanna make sure I get something that has one or two 2.5" outlets, or one or two 3"'s.
I know this is kinda a lotta questions, but this exhaust system problem just hit me yesterday, and I gotta act fast. My car will be in the shop for bodywork to repair car wash damage...
... and if I can get the exhaust shop to get the pipe ready etc, I can have the other mechanic put everything together for me... if not then I'll just take the car back to the exhaust shop after the bodywork.
Thanks in advance guys!
