haha, yup yup...I see them on there man, but yeah, nobody has tried em. I keep hearing the you get what you pay for speech....just one person told me they're fine as long as the struts are good...idk. Might volunteer as a lab rat.ken240sx wrote:I'd also like to know...are you talking about the cheap like $30 things or w/e. that just look like springs with the plates on top and bottom. They looks cheap as crap and probably perform that way too. I dunno if I would trust putting stuff like that in my suspension, but if you wanna be the guinea pig, I'd love to hear a review.
thanks for the look up, lotta info.diggles240 wrote:you don't need struts with coilovers. if you are not tracking the car, i would go for a spring and strut setup. check in here to see what others have done:

everyone says that with no personal experience...s13ftw wrote:you get what you pay for?
I know. On some things it IS true, but on others, although cheap, are really good. Like my new exhaust, its great. Cheap, wonderful, and just the same as those $400 ones from name brand companies....NismoDriver240 wrote:

never tried the coilovers, kinda thinking about it, but if ur gunna use ebay suspension, even i'd go name brand, and look at my build lol
locked n loaded? hahai almost didn't post, but figured i'd get some honest opinions. So far they're all similar. thanksThuG LyFe wrote:damn came in here with a huge flamethrower but ppl are being nice...
why would you want to go with no name coilovers? i noe ppl wanna save as much as they can but i wouldn't sacrifice anything that might put my life at risk. you'd be wasting money, just do it right the first time get a cheap spring/shock combo like eibach sportlines and kyb agx.
There are alternatives with slip over coilovers that are proven to last and have great results, such as ground control.smocan wrote:
The slip over coilovers, like the ones you get are ****. As you can tell, theres not even a manufacturer name. All of the springs are made and thrown into a pile, 4 random springs are picked, which all have different spring rates... but if your following, the factory that makes them could care less. The Adjusters furthermore are complete junk like the springs, which will corrode and strip and jam and break and end up being useless, well as a whole, thats what they are anyway.
Ground Control on the other hand, uses quality adjusters and brand name springs which are all properly grouped together with the proper spring rates, or can be custom ordered to your desire. They will also can help you out to find what your looking for if you call them up. These also are made to work with a specific shock your using. Although many of you think buying KYBs and grouping them with these is fine and it is, but thats not what all the rave is about. The best setup is properly calculated with the proper string rates and valving. Research is needed to understand what setup your looking for and what proper specs on the springs and struts so they work together like a true coilover system should, not like all the crap everyone on here buys, including me. The best results are found with upper level konis matched with these ground controls, which are matched with and for eachother. This can provide a comfortable ride with good stiffness on the weekend, or possibly a great stiff suspension setup for the track only.
Do your research and these will outperform almost everything out there.
Man, I've looked up and down but cant find the webpage that I was referring to. This page had some dude Friggin cutting the base of the *stock* strut spring support off, sliding the sleeve down over it. Anyways, I think Im just going to make some candle holders out of them for my girl. She likes candles.sharkerio_coupe wrote:

Great response, thanks smocan. Very logical information.smocan wrote:Is this thread serious? And only 1 person against this idea... its pathetic.
Heres why you shouldn't, as I posted in "Mr Ebay Projects" thread. But obviously everyone thinks its neat to try out parts that put your life at risk.

Ebay coilovers ARE CRAP, and have been reviewed, I love hearing everyone say, i'll try them out since no one else has. Yea good excuse. THEY HAVE BEEN USED BEFORE YOU, use google for crying out loud... and have even snapped during driving. I have rode in a car with these a 2 years ago and the ride was ****, and I can tell you, i'd never get in a car with them ever again for my own safety.
looks like Im heading the same diretion...im looking for about a two inch drop. Most I seem to find are 1.8.cbt240sx wrote:

Seriously, don't cheap out on parts. Look into some KYB agx struts and get some lowering springs to put on em', thats the direction I'm heading. (40 bucks for a coilover setup, what was I thinking?)
I've read on here that there is a high possibility that you could blow your stock struts out if you did. I would wait. That way you know you got a good setup. It beats going through all the work just to have the **** fail on you (especially while driving on them).sharkerio_coupe wrote:If i put em on my stock strucks for a while til i get new ones is that ok? Or should i wait to get both at once?
Fa sho. So I think im going with a skunk2 / kyb set up. The Skunk2 have the lowest drop i found 2-2.25"i think this should be enough to lug me round town gangsta?cbt240sx wrote:

Oh yeah i have a friend that has been on KYB AGXs and a 2 inch drop with sportlines for 2 years and on the streets of south central. No problems at all..916drifter wrote:you should get koni yellow and ground control. heard that set up is better than a lot of coilovers. if i had the money and an extra car id try it for awhile.
kyb agx and rsr springs i heard were awsome as well.
sportlines are too soft i didnt like them. and skunk 2...ehhh
you cant lower too much on agxs or they will blow fast.
just save your pennies and get some cheap megans. it will be worth it in the end.
