A guy at work told me that the effects of a racing clutch won't be nearly as great without a new, lighter flywheel to grab onto. I think he's full of it, but he brought up a good point. Since they're down there, might as well have them put one it. I plan on get the ACT street kit, and was wondering what a good flywheel would go with it. The only one I saw was teh Fidanza one (because I was too lazy to look at any other website other than enjuku.)

What do ya'll think? Is it worth the extra money?

Nick.

I dont think a flywheel is necessary, however, i would highly suggest buying a new pressure plate to go with your new clutch :)

You'll want to resurface your flywheel if you keep your current one.

The ACT clutch kit comes with a heavy duty pressure plate good up to 267ft/lbs of torque. I think that's plenty good for my NA KA. Haha, I don't think you could even possibly squeeze that much rwhp out of a N/A KA w/o Nitrous.

Are you planning to tune the crap outta the KA motor? I just replaced my clutch with an OE one, and kept my OE flywheel. It was resurfaced, like the masta said, and it grips quite nicely. I think all clutch kits come with a pressure plate, you should have seen my old one! Blue with NO grip left whatsoever!!! LOL

not planning to do much with my KA, thats why I stuck with OE replacement. Exedy apparently makes a pretty good OE replacement clutch as well, and I think a flywheel costs more than the clutch kit.

Dauntt, there is a bearing that came with my kit (Koyo bearing). The guys at my shop (a bunch of freaking rejects) said the bearing didn't need to be replaced, and doesn't always need to be replaced. i think they were just to lazy to remove my flywheel. What do you think?

thanks G money!!

the koyo brearing is most likly your throwout bearing or relese bearing which is the same thing it doesn't always need to be replace but why take the transmission out twice if you can do everything in one clean sweep

If you drag race a lot and use slicks don't get one. I have one and it sucks for the track with slicks. Otherwise its good for the street and high rpm revvin. Also makes rev matching much easier.

Awesome, i wasn't aware that the ACT clutch came with a new pressure plate. You're good to go, but like Daunt said.... consider resurfacing your flywheel.

you have to get your flywheel resurfaced, or sanded down at the very least.
