Should I Fix or Junk it?

So I got in a wreck... hit an unoccupied car... the girl left car with flat tire in left lane to go get a spare. Car I was following switched lanes to miss it and I couldn't since there was a car next to me... So I hit it..

Anyways the insurance has totalled it. Said they would give my 7k to replace my Pathy(01-V6 3.5-137kmiles). Or I could take 5100 to fix it. Body shop says it will cost 6k to fix(this is with aftermarket/recycled parts).

So should I take the money and get a new car or try to fix my pathfinder?

They said I need a new strut, control arm, tie rod, stabilizer bar, plus bumper, fender/hood and paint. Also said left engine cradle? This body shop maybe just ripping me off I dont know.

Get another 01-04 R50. Maybe one colour instead of two tone.

I'd take the $$ and buy another. If it got that far enough into the front end to mess up the motor mounts, then the frame is probably bent - it'll never be the same.

i wouldnt want to drive a car that has been in that wreck - its not a huge wreck but its enough to cause alignemt problems, future paint problems (once its repainted), and who knows what else will go wrong. It will never be the same again. I would take the 7k and run.

Get ride of it and get another one, the truck will never be the same.

Strip the truck for parts tho and then buy another one and compare parts and use the better of the 2 (Not mechanical but cosmetics)

Or strip and part out the wrecked vehicle if possible.

Run with the money. Too much risk in fixing a vehicle that's been in a moderate crash like this.

Yes, if I choose to keep the car they will give me 5100 (minus salvage and TTL for a new car)

Thanks guys for all the responses, since I don't have a place where I can strip down the pathy for parts I'm just going to take the 7k. I almost bought a 2010 maxima last night... I'm still trying to figure out if I want another SUV or Sedan...

I'm concerned about buying another Pathy same model year... I had just replace my AC compressor ~ 1000 bucks so I don't want to do that on another one...

eh it could be worse... i also have a new AC compressor, i also put $1000 into the suspension and $1500 on the wheels.... depleted my bank acct and guess what just happened... my transmission blew!

when i wrecjed my first pathy ihad about 170k km on it and they gave me $10000 for it i took the money bought my current pathfinder and stripped the old one of the grille the headlights pretty much the whole interior i tried to take everything that i thought may break in the future or extras i have paid for like remote starter and alarm system. I even smashed a couple extras because i was pissed about the accident.

I told the guys at the place my car was towed to that i wanted to get a few things out of the car before i got rid of it and they said no problem aslong as you use your own tools and dont need anyones help.

bottom line take money buy another one and salvage as many parts as possible maybe see if you can get that AC Compressor back

I agree, Salvage what can for parts and get another. That one may never be right and bent is bent. Also smack the girl that left her car in the road for you to hit..... Lame is lame too.
