Should I dent the new BRM to make it fit?

I just got a 2.5 stainless BRM with the dual tips and a 14" resonator. My problem is that the exhaust is touching the rear sway bar. I would say it hits it but it is actually always in contact with it and with a little pressure. It bangs only at startup, not while driving. I am going to bend the hangers to get it in a better position. That's is a little lame because that will pull it farther from being centered in the bumper gap. To give it more clearance to move I think I want to dent the resonator also. That shouldn't be a problem should it?

if you are really concerned about how centered it is, but dont want it to touch the sway bar, go to somewhere like meineke, get em to cut the old hangers off and mount some new ones. They would probably only charge you like 20 bucks or less

Have you contacted Greg about this? Maybe it is a problem with the production of it, you never know.

Try to rectify the problem without modding it, maybe using some new hangers or something. If this fails, just simply take some pics and email Greg. He is VERY professional and will do everything in his powers to help you out.

BTW, has your 240 ever been involved in an accident?

get like a big piece of home depot black rubber hose stuff for plumbing, cut it down the side, slip it over the top of the exhaust, cram it between the sway bar and the exhaust, and ziptie it snug.

Well you're all too late. Actually I just never checked the forum since I saw the first reply. I dented the resonator and looking inside it it doesn't appear to have reduced the inside diameter. I also put a socket and a pile of washers on the forward most muffler hanger to push it a tiny increment to the left. Now it never bangs, I'm happy.

LOL - I love the Home Depot fixes....

It's not necessarily a problem with his car specifically - Nissan did a PISS-POOR job of locating the exh hangars in the same place / angle on each car... Hard to get them all precise.

Neither car was designed to take a 5" diameter resonator (but it's definitely an improvement)!!!
