my car has 110k miles and the transmission fluid is kinda dirty i was thinking what is the best way to go about changing it since i dont know when it was last changed? should i just replace the trans fluid itself instead of the torque converter to? i dont want my trans to slip it shifts fine now and i wanna keep it that way....

I did mine awhile back .Its a drain/refill not a chemical flush.I bought two elcheapo tupperware type pans that would hold about 2 gallons or so of fluid.

Buy about 14 quarts of good quality AFT.

Drained the pan.Took the pan off and replaced the filter WITH new ORing.Cleaned out the pan. had very little clutch material on the magnet.

Reinstall pan with new pan gasket and start the process.FYI don't overtighten the pan bolts !!!!

put the unused pan beside the pan with the old fluid in it and match the amount. This is when you will see just how dirty the old fluid is !!!Fill it back up ..After checking for leaks around the pan take it for a EASY drive making sure you go through all gears. Then repeat the drain/refill procedure till all the new fluid is used and your happy with the color of fluid that drains out.Making sure you put in the SAME amount you drained.
