well ive had this exhaut for a while now. Its the HKS sport exhaust catback. well i spend like $430 on it and i had no intention on going turbo back then. But witht the KA dead i decided to go sr. (btw i am currently using this exhaust)

heres Phase 2 Motortrends description of it:

HKS Sports catback for S13 240SX (1989-93), comes with 65mm tips & 60mm diameter mild steel piping perfect for normally aspirated application. Contrary to the N1 style polished style canister that's eye catching, this HKS unit uses low key DUAL TIP muffler that gives a very clean factory look with minimal exhaust tone for quality ride.

the thing is i love this exhaust bc its quiet & it sounds mean, def. not ricey. My freinds are telling me to get a bigger exhuast so the turbo can breath better and stuff; and i agree with them bc a bigget exhaust does let it breath better. heh i even gutted my cat last week. anyways, is it absolutley necessary that i get another, bigger exhaust? bc i dont want my exhuast to go to waste if i can still use it. im going to get a test pipe and im not sure if i should keep this exhuast. Do i need to change exhausts?? Couldnt i just get bigger piping and keep the cat back?

thnx

-Mike

I thought for turbo you would want 3" piping to allow proper flow. I think with anything smaller you might run the risk of having it 'back up' so to speak.. *

*DISCLAIMER*I have no idea what i'm talking about. The information provided above is there for one of three reasons: 1) it is my pathetic attempt to say something funny or mildly humerous; or 2) I attempted to be informative or helpful but ended up making myself look like an idiot; or 3) I actually said something informative or helpful but there are no guarantees on it. I am not responsible for any damages done to your vehicle. If you actually listen to what I say you're stupider than I thought.

Hehe.. I have the n1 dual it's 3" .. NA.. its sxy tho.

I don't know how big your exhaust piping is but your muffler inlet looks really small. You'd want at least 2.75" for turbo. I know someone that has that kind of exhaust piping on an SR with an upgraded GT28 series turbo. He said it reduces the spool lag a little bit...

3" would definitely be an improvement.

All of my turbo SR and KA customers are running 3".

You could probably sell your current system here in the "parts" forum.

yea your engine is trying to blow through a straw right now. a 3" will see less turbo lag and more power. its up to you, but you will see an improvement.

No. You need a full 3" system.

Let me know if you want me to price out a nice setup for you.

If you can find me a SC owner in Phx or Miami who will "loan" me their car for a day, sure!

Or find me a stock system to build a jig from.
