I found a 90' Nissan 240sx for $3500. The body is in perfect condition with no dents or scratches at all. It has some electrical problems tho, the auto seatbelts don't work and the heater controls don't work, but I think it might be a fuse. Other than it has 150k miles on it but runs great and has full exhaust. I have been trying to buy a 240sx for more than three months and this is the first one that is closest to what I am looking for, i know the price is high but they must be rare around here or something. Should i make the purchase or move on??

If I were you I would look to see if the timing chain has been replaced yet. If it has, also test drive the car to see how the sychros are, esp. in 2,3,5 gear. Run the gears high "not redline but you know" and shift. If you hear any grinding noise then they may be faulty or going out.

If they check clear, I would try to negotiate the price down the $2800 or something. Goodluck with your purchase.

$3500 is a little steep for a 90 in that condition. If you wanted one that badly right away, just drive to California, where there's tons of 240sx around. :)

Hmm.. dont let the exhaust push you towards a purchase...It sounds really clean though, I say look at it really closely before you dive in.The mileage is high, but that's what JDM engines are for :D

I think we all forgot the most important part of his thread, is a manual or auto!!!!!!!!!!!!! If its an auto, def. kick it to the side, if its a manual, try to negotiate a lower price my man.

P.S. Please only post this thread in one forum, we have been having some bandwith problems lately, thanks.

I live in south bend, in. I drove to Parma, OH(south of cleveland) for a 92 240sx. But, the guy was origionally asking 2800 dropped price to 2200, then 1700. I drove down with 1700 and talked him down to 1400. Its an auto with 175K, flawless body and alarm. I got a quote for parts for the auto to manual conversion at the junkyard. They said 350 if i pull the parts myself. there are better deals around, it only took me 2 months to find mine.

That is if you can actually find one for sale. Every time I look in the paper, I never see any 240s for sale. I have one, but I look out of curiosity. I've considered selling mine, because you can sell them for more than book value, but really. What am I gonna do w/ 7k? I'd never get a better car then what I have now unless I take out a loan. Eff that.

Nick.
