Sorry that my first post has to be a n00b post, but this is my first foray into the Sylvia world. I don't know a whole lot about these cars. Anyway, I have always wanted a 240SX because they make awesome platforms. I finally found one near my house, one that's not too expensive. I'm in the market for a daily driver while I finish up some work on my turbo Celica. I'd like to know if THIS looked like a good buy to anyone as a temporary daily driver then as a project car? Specs:

'91 240SX SE Fastback98,000 MilesWhite5-Speed Manual$2,300

From the looks of it (the same car is on cars.com with a picture) it seems to be in good shape. I'd love to pick up this car. Is there anything I should know to look for when I get a chance to take a look?

They also have a black '93 hatch with 129,000 for $3,000 and a red '91 coupe w/137,000 for $3,200, both 5-speeds.

Thanks everyone and hello! This is my first post!

Welcome aboard, you came to the right place.

Without looking TOO much into it, I'd say that the way 240sx's are going, that's a decent price.

Realistically, once a car has reached that age, it's gonna need some restoration - The only CRITICAL thnig to look for is rust.

Engines can be swapped, transmissions relpaced, interiors refurbished... But a 240 with rust is worthless.

Cool, that's what I wanted to hear. The place that has it has two others, and believe me, I'm not paying what they're asking unless the car is pristine. I'm gonna take a look at it sometime (I'm away at school right now). I want to buy it even if it needs some work so that when I can stark putting time and money into another car I have one to work with.

I don't need a swap to smash Hondas (well, maybe with a 240). My Celica can smash any Honda near my house. It's a 2001 (newer body) with a turbo kit running ~6psi good for around 190 or so whp.

Check that car out with a fine toothed comb. The dealership has a reputation for selling cars with shady histories.

Thats is a good deal if the car is clean as in no rust (remember you are up North...) and running...You will be paying a lot more down South for a 91 .....and yes check and inspect the car before buying...
