For that kind of money, you can find a clean titled 1997 Q45. For a little more, you can get one with an analog clock in it.

I guess it depends on why it was salvaged. Most luxury cars that are salvaged take a HUGE hit on value.

This one seems to be priced right along with clean titled cars.

My vote is "No"

Only way I would pay that much is if I knew exactly why it was salvaged and the histroy from 1997 to present day. Save your money and you can find another one, just don't rush into a sell.

Not a chance in hell.

You can get a nice clean-titled Y33 for that much or less with more or less the same mileage.

Hells naw. The problem i see in this is, u dont know the problems on this car. And dam for almot 9 grand. You might as well buy another Q45 that you know is working right. All i can say is not. spend 9k now, and next year spend another 3-4k trying to make repairs

All [out of warranty] used big lux V8 will need $3,000-$4,000 soon after you buy them. Fact of life in used car business!

The reason cars are sold is because the owner finds out a large chunk of change is needed.

Always budget [have a cash reserve] of $3,000 if a MB, Audi,or BMW bump this up to $5,000.

That's what I paid for my '99 (with 93K miles) a couple of months ago.... If it were say, $4k, I'd say take the gamble....

I agree with everyone, this is a pass. At half the price it might be worth investigating.

Now if you're really looking for a Salv title car to get cheap, there's an M45 near Cleveland that has been on ebay & autotrader for months, they're trying to get ~$15k and it still needs airbags. That's still too much IMHO.

Definitely not. They all say "fully loaded" well, that's because every Q is fully loaded. Keep looking man, you'll find one in that price range that's not salvaged. And in the 2.5 years I've had mine, I've spent no where close to "$3,000-$4,000 soon after you buy them" on it besides upgrades.

Items that "needed" replacing on mine:AlternatorAll beltsSpark plugs2 O2 sensorsFuel filterair filters (engine/cabin)suspension rubber & tension rod bushings

That's barely $1000 in 2.5 years.

Items that I "wanted" to replace:wheels / tiresspringsshockscurtainstintfront spoilerCima grillesexhaust (w/in the next week - b4 the EXC show)

Now that stuff easily adds up to $3000

True, but yours hadn't been mistreated then put on the market (or traded in) by someone that neglected the car. At this point, you'd have to expect the "average" (most of us aren't) car owner hasn't done any suspension/rubber replacement (save tires) nor any long term fluid changes (save oil). For the non-DIY'er (add in labor costs), those along with knock/o2 sensors and plugs could get you real close real fast.

NFW!

They should pay you to take it, about what they are asking.

There's a '97 here with 91k on it selling for like $4,500.

Want me to go look at it for you?

I find it hard to believe that they cost half as much in D.C. as they cost here. No fcking way you'll get one for anywhere close to $4500 out here, no way whatsoever. They won't even go for that cheap even at auction here.

Looking on Autotrader right now, there are none under 6500 and those are STARTING bid prices at public auctions. There are a few 97's in the 8-9k range, one 98 for 9k, and a few 99's in the 11-12k range (all with under 100k). $4500? There must be something wrong with it, they're just not that cheap, at least I find it very hard to believe they cost half as much in other cities as they do in a 50 mile radius of where I live in L.A.

if you can find me 10 of them at that price, I'll pay you a good profit on all of them.
